Près-de-terre, meaning "near ground" in French, is a charming vacation rental in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Designed by Alana Woerpel, the interior decorator of the award winning boutique hotel Zero George, Près-de-terre offers a relaxed blend of comfort and style that makes you feel as if you were in southern France.

As the name suggests, the property is indeed close to the grounds of the University of Virginia. Walk easily to the Rotunda or any of the stadiums, and downtown is just a short drive away. You'll also be well located for heading west to hike on the Blue Ridge or for visiting the area's many vineyards.

The guest house features a primary suite on the main floor and two additional guest rooms upstairs, ensuring privacy and a restful night's sleep for everyone in your group. The bathrooms are well-appointed with modern fixtures and luxurious amenities, with a heated floor and spacious shower in the primary bath.

Près-de-terre boasts an enchanting courtyard surrounded by three stone walls. While soaking in the European vibe, you'll enjoy the sounds of the birds and the nearby church bells. Surrounded by greenery and gardens, it's the perfect spot to dine or unwind.

True Charlottesville Charm
We recently visited Charlottesville with a small group of friends to attend concerts at JPJ Arena and explore the local wine region. We were immediately impressed with the property’s charm, cleanliness, and beautiful decor. We’ve visited provincial France and - to echo other reviewers - this home is transportive. Moreover, the location is perfect. The mature landscape helps you feel removed from the city but we were able to walk to the arena/campus with ease. We couldn’t recommend this lovely space more!

Southern France make believe
My daughter, who lives in Charlottesville was to travel with me on a 6 week European vacation. We were to end the trip in France. I fell and broke my ankle on the way into the airport the night we were to leave. Needless to say this was a huge disappointment for us both. In turn we had 2 amazing friends fly in from Oregon and Montana and I wanted to find some place very special and what a thrill to find a perfect slice of the south of France right here in Charlottesville. We simply couldn’t believe the location and grounds and the house- layout- furnishings- kitchen etc it was sublime. I know now if for whatever the reason is I’m unable to get to France- I can just go across town and check in!!!!!
