Airfares offered on Friday tend to be the cheapest, according to flight demand on Travelocity.ca in 2021. Purchasing your airfares on a Thursday or Saturday can also provide better value, however our advice if you’re looking to save money is to avoid booking on a Wednesday or Sunday. Our data shows that those two days have the highest ticket values on average, so keep this in mind if you’re browsing flight deals.
Frequent travellers may already know this, earlier in the week is often the cheapest time to fly. Flights departing on a Monday are the cheapest of the week. Since flights towards the middle of the week tend to be more popular, this causes the prices to rise. This is why, on average, airfares booked on Travelocity.ca in 2021 were most expensive for Wednesday departures.
Here’s the deal: It is typically possible to start comparing international airfares on Travelocity.ca up to 12 months in advance. However, it does depend on the carrier as not all airlines release their prices that far out. According to our 2021 flight demand trends, last minute planners can still bag a bargain with some of the cheapest fares appearing 2-4 weeks prior to their travel dates.

Cologne is Germany's fourth-largest city and home to many of its most impressive landmarks, among them the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Cologne Cathedral, a 12th century City Hall still in use, medieval city gates, and more than 30 museums. Cologne flights land at Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN), about 10 miles from the center of the city. In no time you'll see sights ranging from ancient Roman ruins to ultramodern architectural monuments, all set scenically along the Rhine River.
If you prefer to drive yourself around, or if you intend to visit destinations in the wider region around Cologne, rent a car from one of six on-site rental companies. You'll find their desks on the ground level of Terminal 2. Outside Terminal 2 is a taxi stand, another convenient option that will get you to the center of Cologne in about 20 minutes. CGM has its own railway station, right in the middle of the airport. A train ride to Koln Hauptbahnhof, Cologne's central station, takes approximately 15 minutes and will put you within walking distance of some of the best hotels in Cologne. There's also a direct bus connection from CGN to the Porz Markt S-Bahn railway station, from which you can connect to stations in central Cologne. If you really want to stretch your legs after your flights to Cologne (and you packed light), consider a pleasant walk through the Wahner Heide nature reserve, which surrounds the airport, before continuing to your final destination in Cologne. After that, it's probably time to enjoy a German beer or two, and you're in luck: Cologne has more pubs per capita than any other city in Germany.
Find a cheap flight to Cologne with Travelocity and soon you'll be gazing up at the spires of medieval churches, taking in the art at some of the city's hundreds of galleries, and strolling along the banks of the Rhine. With Travelocity's Cologne vacation packages you can save up to $537 by booking your hotel and flight at the same time.
