When we checked in, we were surprised to see the check in was on 4th floor. Our room was on 9th floor. We got in the elevator closed the doors and could not get the darned thing to go up! We finally saw a small sign that said to "insert " room key into device for service to the upper floors. (Now mind you we are from farm country in Nebraska and not used to all this high tech stuff.) We finally found something that looked like a device but could not find a place on it to insert our room key. We finally found the open door button on the elevator. I sheepishly went to the front desk to ask for assistance. The lady was real good about it and laughed with us about it as she showed us how to "scan" the room key in the device. She even rode with us to the 9th floor to make sure we could scan the lock to get in the room. You have good people at the front desk. She did not even laugh until she was laughing with us and not at us. My only suggesting is that you change the wording on the sign from insert to scan. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Anniversary getaway
We stayed at this location for an overnight trip downtown for our anniversary. I was excited based on prior reviews and was surprisingly let down. I am a Hilton Honors member, but booked through hotels.com because we had rewards and our night was essentially free. I fully believe the hotel staff treats you differently at check in based on how you book. I added comments on our booking that it was our 25th anniversary, but the check in agent was very brief and business like, not very friendly or welcoming. We weren't even told our room number, I had to ask for it after the keys were handed to me. The room was basic, carpet seems dated. The shower makes an awful clanking noise in the walls when turned on and no exhaust fan in the bathroom. TV’s are older and small. The managers reception seemed more mechanical than welcoming, but the server Melissa was very sweet! We were looking forward to breakfast based on previous reviews - it was just ok. The line to have your own eggs made was ridiculous, and the buffet items were more room temp than warm. I’m not sure we would stay again. Very underwhelmed.

Unfortunately this brand is no longer what one expects from an upscale hotel. The positives: 1. The hotel room and overall hotel was very clean; 2. The beds are very comfortable; 3. The breakfast, with made to order omelets, is still excellent. But here are some of the negatives we encountered: 1. Upon arrival at valet parking there was no one to take luggage up to our 17th floor room. There is a sign on the cart saying to please return the cart to the valet area. 2. The metal room door rattled in the metal doorframe because of the air flow in the hallway. We had to fold up a tissue and put it in the doorjamb. 3. The space is nice, but it needs a refresh. The bottom of the bathroom door had been scraped over the years, and there were nicks elsewhere. 4. The bathroom sink drain plug did not hold water. 5. The towels are a bit threadbare. 6. Right in front of artwork above the desk was the desk lamp, half obscuring the artwork. Who did the interior design? 7. When going back to our room after breakfast we found that an employee had washed the tile in the elevator lobby on the main 4th floor lobby and it was wet Isn't there a better time to do this when many fewer guests are using the elevators? 8. Perhaps the best for last -- they charge $56 for overnight parking! The word "extorsion" comes to mind. This is Denver, not Manhattan. Would I stay here again? No, there are several other "upscale" hotels within a couple of blocks that I will try instead.
