Not impressed

Posted Jul 12, 2013
I was very disappointed in my stay at the hotel in Juneau. I asked for an accessible room (two members of our party have mobility issues and cannot walk far, or climb stairs) for one of our two requested rooms. They put both of our rooms on the 3rd floor furthest possible area way from the elevators. The cost was very high for the services/rooms provided. There was an odor in the hallways and in the rooms the whole stay. (possible mold/mildew?) No laundry on site was available, and the hotel shuttle would not take us to a nearby laundromat. We called a taxi instead. There was no breakfast supplied. The restaurant (recommended by the hotel) had terrible service. My party that day (3 people) were finally seated after 15 minutes of waiting. After another 15 minutes our drink order was taken and they only brought 2 of the 3 requested beverages. After another 15 minutes we stopped a waiter and he said that he and the hostess were the only people working that day for service. He never apologized, never took our order, and never said when he would return. We waited another 15 minutes, put some money on the table for the two drinks and left. When we stopped the hostess she never apologized and just said they were busy. At least 2/3 of the tables were empty in the restaurant. We did not return the other days we stayed at the hotel.

Pros: Quiet
THE HOTEL WAS FANTASTIC. When we arrived it was snowing outside and you could hardly take a few steps outside, but all we had to do was call the shuttle and hardly 3 minutes had passed and a shuttle came to pick us up. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the receptionist and were taken to our amazing rooms.

We called the Travelodge from the airport to get a shuttle to the hotel as it had been snowing outside and we did not want to bring our baby out into the cold. It took the shuttle nearly 30 minutes to pick us up at the airport. Once we were finally picked up (along with two other waiting couples), we were rudely checked in by the receptionist. He never made one word during the entire check in process. Once we got to our room, it smelled faintly of cigarette smoke and the air was ice cold. I immediately turned on the thermostat to the “comfort zone”. Some other things I noticed while wondering around the room was that there was a faint cigarette burn on the toilet seat and bright yellow stains on the well worn red rug. After 30 minutes the room finally heat up, but to blistering warmth. I was distraught to see that the only mode of relief was from a broken oscillating fan (the fan kept hitting the housing and making such a loud noise that I was worried it would wake our neighbors).

Juneau vacation

While our stay was only one night, the location directly across from the airport was good for our purposes. The room was large, the bed very comfortable, with a microwave and small frige. It was clean and everything worked well. We would definietly stay there again. The hotel provides 24 hr. transportation to and from Juneau and to the airport which was one of the major reasons we selected it.
