I hesitantly offer this review, as I have never felt the need before because this hotel is supposed to be highly rated.
Our arrival and departure was very chaotic. Hotel staff were very unprepared, as management failed to foresee and adequately plan for the Tulane University weekend evidently.
Upon arrival to our room, we noticed two pair of "ear plugs" on the bed. (Red flag #1) Late night outside noise was totally unacceptable! We know the structure is old, but remedial work could be done on the inside of the perimeter walls and windows to help in reducing the loud noise until 2 a.m., from adjacent establishments. Ear plugs are NOT the answer.
We asked to have our room cleaned twice during our stay. It was cleaned once. We had to call housekeeping twice late at night to ask for items that did not get replaced/left, like they should have.
The bed was horrendous! It was as if the plastic cover it was delivered in was still on it. It popped and squeaked every time we moved, which caused us to continually wake up throughout the night, and this was after AFTER the 2 a.m. music subsided!
There was NO towel rods in the bath. The toilet paper holder was placed so far away that you had to lift yourself up off the toilet to get to the paper holder.
The carpet felt slightly sticky to the feet. (Shampoo here?) The tub had NO anti-slip protection, and the porcelain was very slick, which is dangerous for older guests. There was no microwave.
VERY OVERRATED for the price.
