The entry needs to be spruced up. Lobby looks very dated but the hotel is deceiving as the rooms are beautifully re-done. Large room nicely appointed. large bathroom and closet space. As a frequent visitor to NYC it's in a great location with easy access to Times Square and the subway.

My 3-day stay at Hotel St. James.
At first I was kind of off when I saw the reception area and the elevator. The reception area is outdated and no feeling that you are in New York because of the old furniture and layout. What change my perception of the place is the jolly and very accommodating staff. They are always in the mood to help and address our needs. It's a welcome feeling specially when you came from a long flight or a long walk outside. The beddings are comfortable. Heater is functioning well. I just hope that the tiny ref be replaced to a more decent size that our bottled water of 10ml can fit. The area is so closed to our needs - quick bites, breakfast eateries, convinient stores, etc. Over-all it's ok.
