Great place to stay in NYC if you are on a budget. The hotel is older and the rooms are small but it's all very clean and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast (included with your stay) was the best breakfast I've had in any NYC hotel. I highly recommend The Leo House!

Leo House is definitely a mixed bag. It bills itself a “Catholic Guest House, but it is simply a mid-range hotel, with some crucifixes, pictures of popes, etc. and more religious literature in the desk drawer than just the Bible. If not for that, ya wouldn’t know. There is no proselytizing or preaching. There is much to like. The location is pretty good. The price is pretty good, too! The staff is very nice. It is mostly quiet, although on my visit there seemed to be guests - and not young people, but middle age - that thought the hallway was part of their room, talking loudly early in the morning (not the hotel’s fault, but a drag). There room, while Spartan, had a quite comfortable bed. The is much that is adequate: Breakfast is your basic hotel fare: scrambled eggs, cereal, breads (how is it that NYC hotels serve store bought Sara Lee-type “bagels”….?). They do have what seemed like some nice sweets - cakes, brownies and cookies, that looked in-house baked - but I did not partake. They only have house-keeping every four days, which worked for me, but I did leave behind a very full trash can, and if there had been two people, it might have gotten a little funky… The not-so-great: Tub did not drain. Bathroom in general really needs lime TLC. The heater was definitely worked! Had to turn it off to sleep. No breakfast on Sunday(?). I know God rested on the 7th day, but….
