Pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Portlander Inn. There are so many Hotels to choose from in the same price range with free oarking and breakfast, all around Portland. (downtown, Jansen Beach, Vancouver, Airport, etc.) Chose this one because it's associated with a truck stop and we had a trailer with all of our kayak fishing gear on it.
With all the issues (vagrants, addicts, encampments) going on in Portland (and most big cities), the Portlander inn has covered the issue with extremely bright exterior lighting, and several security guards walking the lot all night. We parked in front where the 24 hour frint desk clerk could see it.
The included breakfast is awesome and fresh cooked to order.
It's not a great place to walk around in fact there aren't really any other shops, restaurants or bars around. We didn't care as we had a car and were planning to try some of the wonderful foods and the different neighborhoods around Portland. And uts about 7-15 mins from just about everything Portland has to offer.
All the staff; housekeeping, front desk, restaurant, gas station attendant are extremely friendly and helpful.
You don't really need to leave since everything you need is there in the massive building. Restaurant, bar, fudge counter, snack shop, sandwich shop, convenience store with walk in beer fridge, laundromat, movie theater (no joke), truck museum, etc.
We would definately stay again.
