Port Description

Salaverry (Trujillo), Peru
A stop in Salaverry leads quickly to Trujillo, a city rich with colonial charms and fascinating ruins. Against the backdrop of the Andean foothills, the center of the city glows with pastel-painted casonas (mansions) adorned with wrought-iron balconies and colorful flower baskets. The ancient world comes to life at two remarkable structures that predate the Incas: the Temples of the Sun and Moon, built by the Mochicas, and the ancient Chimu capital city of Chan Chan, the largest pre-Columbian city in the Americas, constructed entirely of mud.
