Port Description

Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts
In the 17th century, sea captains, mariners, and whalers used to get their land legs back on this New England coastal island. Today, well-heeled vacationers come in droves during summer to enjoy the salty air, refreshing Atlantic, quiet beaches, and meandering bike paths past bluffs, lighthouses, churches, and clapboard houses. Clinton loves to golf here, and stars ranging from Spike Lee to Robert McNamara might be spotted in an Edgartown ice cream parlor, shopping in Oak Bluffs, or savoring a seafood dinner at a backyard barbecue. Even the late John Belushi remains here in his beer-bottle-bangled grave.
