Port Description

Palmer Station, Antarctica
Anvers Island is actually a big rock that happens to be superbly positioned off the coast of the Antarctic peninsula to observe a range of scientific phenomena, from marine life to weather patterns. Realizing its worth, the Americans built Palmer Station here in 1968. Although the main attractions consist of five buildings and a pool table, most visitors don't even notice them in the face of such a sweeping outer landscape. Icebergs and glaciers, penguins and whales, snow and ice and more ice--all Antarctic hallmarks reinforcing the notion that you're not in Kansas anymore.
