Hotel Playa Mazatlan features colonial-style architecture with rustic Mexican details and is located amidst gardens, waterfalls and pools at the southern end of the Golden Zone, just 15 minutes from downtown and 30 minutes from the airport. The hotel is in walking distance of a variety of restaurants, bars and shops and has views of Deer Island.

The low-rise buildings surround three pools with gardens and two jacuzzis. Facilities and services include a fitness center, gift shops, a beauty salon, safety deposit boxes, doctor-on-call, child care, activities program and room service from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Terraza Playa Restaurant serves international cuisine and Mexican specialties on a panoramic beachfront terrace. La Playita Snack Bar offers quick, freshly prepared snacks, cold beer and tropical drinks on the beach. There is also an on-site ice cream stand. The hotel is home to the weekly Fiesta Mexicana, a dinner-show running since 1966 which features folk entertainment, live music, dancing, Mexican buffet and tropical drinks.

The hotel's 418 rooms overlook the ocean or tropical gardens, all with private balcony or terrace. Standard amenities include rustic Mexican furnishings, air-conditioning, purified running water, satellite TVs, and telephones.
