At 2000 meters above sea level, Banyan Tree Lijiang is located in Yunnan Province, in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and approximately 40 minutes from Lijiang Airport. To the north of the city is the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a sanctuary that has protected the ethnic minorities and their unique cultures since ancient times. The Old Town of Lijiang was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
