The Melrose is one block from Georgetown and the Foggy Bottom Metro station, eight blocks from the White House, and approximately five miles from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The hotel is also 27 miles from Dulles International Airport and 37 miles from Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

In 2007, the Melrose completed a full-scale, multi-million dollar renovation of the entire property. Each of the guest rooms, all of the public space and the social and meeting facilities have been newly refurbished, and guests will be greeted in an intimate lobby with a new restaurant and bar. The hotel also offers 24-hour room service, a fitness center, valet parking (fee), high-speed Internet access, and 24-hour front desk service.

Guest rooms feature pillow-top mattresses, Speakman showerheads, designer bath products, wireless Internet access, personal coffeemakers, dual-line telephones, dataports, terry cloth bathrobes, hairdryers, On-Demand movies, irons, ironing boards, and complimentary newspapers. Original artwork commissioned for the hotel adorns each room and features watercolor renderings of the city's famed historical attractions.
