The service was less than acceptable. Housekeeping was bad. Food was horrible, not to mention the buffett was closed one night, no explanation and was not allowed to eat at sisiter place ( Colonial). Overall bad experience, wouldn't recommened or come again.

We would return again to Punta Cana, however, The Majestic Elegance promised International and National liquors. We were only offered the Dominican Republic brands. We'll possibly check some of the other resorts out a little closer before we book the next trip. We did have some trouble with small ants in our room.

Just got back from a six night stay at the Majestic Elegance. The moment that I got there, the treatment from the staff was exceptional. (If you go, I suggest getting the Elegance upgrade) I stayed in a swim up room that had a bali bed and lounger, as well as straight access to the pool, and it was worth it. I didn't have any issues with the staff (they were fantastic...you can't expect people to speak your language when you go to their country)...but they know enough English to understand your needs. The room was always clean, fridge always stocked and an abundance of towels when I asked. The food was so so....but that's to be expected at an all inclusive resort in another country. Pros: Awesome pools and they were never, ever crowded; great access to the beach; plenty of bali beds and loungers. Cons: Not a good place to go if your a single traveler...almost everyone is a honeymooner; Hard to get out of the pool (no steps or anything for the swim up rooms); The air conditioner is triggered by the sliding glass doors being closed....but there's no handle from the outside...very hard to open. It was definitely a wonderfulu place to stay and I look forward to a return trip. All the pros throughout the week, well out-weighed the cons by a long shot.

An addictive experience !

Sep 4,2009-- R & M from Miami, FL It was our first time in Punta Cana, so we were very cautious at the time of planning how many days we were going to be. We spent 6 days, and believe me, if we had known how good the hotel was going to be, we would have staid much longer. We found a brand new facility, surrounded by a friendly staff; the bell boy, pool bar tender, animator, El muñeco Flavours Restaurant's Captain, and others who made the difference in our stay. A meticulous landscaping, crystal clear waters and silky sand beach captured my senses to the top. Luxurious hotel rooms, particularly the swim- up ones, located at the first floor from where you can access the pool by just walking out your room. Two buffet restaurants “Flavours” and “Sea and Sea”, the latter facing the Caribbean Sea, featuring a kaleidoscope of international flavors. Four á la carte restaurants Oriental, French, Italian and a Steak House were open for those seeking a gourmet experience. Unlike other hotels advertise, lobster was served every day in a variety of styles. Entertainment took place at the beach and at dinner time every day; from saxophone players, to Karaoke nights, to folkloric dances, to circus acts, etc. Despite of the above motioned, minor repairs need to be taken care of such as: missing tiles inside the pool, poor air conditioning in the hotel rooms ; AC is unchangeably set at 20°C unpainted spots on the walls particularly in Flavours Restaurant a few fountains dried up thus no working and finally electrical outlets uncovered with presence of wires exposure. Overall, you can overlook these small details and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and friendly atmosphere.

Beautiful resort / beach, however not nearly a 5 star

We stayed in August 2009 in the Elegance Club for 5 days. We had issues with our room, the lack of a/c throughout the resort, the food, and the customer service. This hotel is overrated by people who have had an 'excellent' event, rather than actually evaluating the resort versus it's star rating, because this property is no where near a 5 star experience. There is either no, or underperforming, air conditioning in all public areas of this resort, ie the lobby, lobby bars, restaurants, casino, spa, club, lounges etc. There are also no fans for adequate ventilation in these areas and it will be often very hot, still, and very uncomfortable while away from activities at the pool or beach. Air conditioning also underperformed in our room causing bedding, towels, floors, and belongings to all be damp, and moisture caused a mold / mildewy odor. The food was generally unappealing, with very few highlights, and we ate alot of fruit. There were many reports of digestional maladies, in our group of 30, during and after our trip. Management did not appear, or return calls, after complete run arounds with Elegance Club staff, when basic service requests were left unresponded to. The place could be great, it is beautiful and the beach is amazing, but without major improvements and better management this resort is way overrated and not as they advertise. This may have been our worst customer service experience ever, after they took our money they didn't give a wrap once we arrived, and we suggest you find another place to stay. Had there been enough a/c, better food, and better customer service this place would be awesome FOR THE PRICE, but still wouldn't be a proper 5 star, it would be a 4.
