Nice place to stay in Shinjuku area

Bandoodie B. from San Diego, CA – Would stay again
Stayed Mar 2009, 3 days

Nice hotel; Great location -- a 7 minute walk to Shinjuku Station, right across from Tokyo Metropolitan Gov't Bldg; lots of places to eat & shop nearby (there's also a subway stop right underneath the building, I think). Outside appearance & lobby looks a bit dated (late 70's/ early 80's) but well maintained & super clean. Stayed in Main Tower Deluxe Room on the 31st floor -- fantastic city view!!! (We could see the helipads on top of other buildings.) Room was a good size -- bigger than normal for Japan. Nice modern decor, nice tv, yukata, bathrobes, slippers are provided. Nice bathroom amenities. Nice deep bathtub. Staff was professional, courteous, very helpful, & spoke English well. Restaurants inside hotel are expensive/ higher end -- loads of other places to eat nearby instead. Area around hotel felt safe. Fun to walk around Shinjuku at night -- things close down around 8/9p.m though.

Good Location, Elegant Room.

David W. from Santa Rosa, CA – Would stay again
Stayed Jun 2008, 3 days

We had a relatively spacious room on the 22nd floor with a good view, we were told it was a free upgrade. Very clean, very comfortable, with good air conditioning (this is summer). The bathroom had a full-sized tub. Very elegant. The location is fairly good for us, since it's not far from Shibuya and Omotesando/Harajuku (two of our favorite shopping districts). There's a subway stop just outside the hotel. There's also a tunnel going to Shinjuku Station just outside the hotel, for longer trips. The elevators were very quick and quiet, with gentle acceleration. Our main problem with this hotel is the US$20/hour charge for Internet access, in a country where most inns and hotels have free access at computers in the lobby. There are only 3 computers in the lobby too, for a 47-floor hotel. (During business hours there are a few more computers available in the Business Center, for a slightly higher charge.) When we're away from home the Internet is the only communication we use with people back home, and it's no fun to have the computer putting alerts up every 3 minutes to insert another 100 yen coin. When it's busy you can be sure the wait won't be long, because people are rushing to finish before the computer shuts down and reboots. But I'd rather have more terminals, less rushing, and less expense. The restaurants also weren't affordable but that wasn't as much of a problem, because we could just take a subway somewhere cheaper and better. Overall the hotel was fairly nice, for a Western-style hotel in Tokyo, and we were pleased with it. The cost of Internet access should be considered when comparing fares though, especially with multiple people.

We will be back

dave d. from perth, AU – Would stay again
Stayed Jun 2008, 6 days

The Keio Plaza was all it advertised itself as. We booked the premium service on a "special" deal and we received just that -premium service. Having a convenience store in the hotel that was open 18 hours+ a day was a bonus and the prices were excellent. Shopping & Restaurants were three minutes away . The hotel was friendly ,helpful and all major tour operators picked up from the hotel lobby. There was even a "free" bus transfer to and from Disneyland. Would certainly return there and would recommend to anyone ,families ,business travel or like my wife ,avid shoppers . Thanks Keio for a wonderful stay Dave D

Very Safe area.

Shinjuku is a very safe area day and night. Don't be afraid to venture down side streets as they contain many Shops and Restaurants you would otherwise miss by sticking to the main roads. Despite warnings before we left Australia of high prices, we found by shopping around that we had great meals and good shopping at very reasonable prices dave d
