Bring the Febreeze

Ed S. from Long Island, NY – Would stay again
Stayed Feb 2009, 3 days Most Recent Stay

Stayed there for 3 nights during President's Day week. Chose the hotel because of generally good reviews, walking distance to historic district and free off street parking (parking is an issue and some hotels in the area charge a daily valet fee). We requested a upper floor room with a water view and a King sized bed. There was only one room available that met those criteria. As soon as we opened the door we encountered a musty smell. Also, part of the bed's footboard had broken off. The next morning we went to the supermarket and got a bottle of Febreeze and some scented candles. By the time we left things had mostly improved. The plusses are location, parking, view and price. The covered porch outside the rooms was a nice place to view the bay over a morning coffee. What needs improvement is housekeeping (how could they not notice the odor) and the continental breakfast (lukewarm coffee and a thin selection of baked goods). On balance, we would stay here again, but bring the Febreeze.

A great deal

Anonymous from Gainesville, FL – Would stay again

I was nervous given all the mixed reviews of hotels I'd seen in St. Augustine, but this was a great choice. It has recently been remodeled. We have a lovely room that had a light, Spanish feel to it. The bathroom was extremely nice and clean. The location was wonderful for us. We did an ecotour and the pier is just across the street. We could walk to everything. The continental breakfast was nearly gone by 9 and wasn't anything special. They have abundant parking and let us stay parked there for the afternoon even though we had checked out.

A good experience

Laura M. from Victorville, CA – Would stay again

The Bayfront in is a nice hotel. It was comfortable and clean. The front desk even had a list of restaurants with recommendations and hours. This was especially appreciated as severe traffic made for a late arrival. I only wish that I had a true picture of setting and that the property was more like a motor inn than a hotel.

Best Hotel This Side of Heaven!

Debbie C. from Allentown, PA – Would stay again

Wow, the location! Excellent view of the bay and the St Augustine haunted Lighthouse right from the room. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is clean, mattresses very very comfortable, looks newly renovated and tastefully done at that. Central air, refrigerator and tv. They provide coffee and muffins in the morning. They are in the historic district and very close to all the attractions you possibly could want to see. I loved sitting on a chair, that they provide, outside of the room at night and watching the light from the lighthouse and listening to the sounds of the sea right at my doorstep. I was only there 3 nights for a family affair, but I didn't want to leave. Beautiful town, great hotel, so much to see. I know whenever I go back there, I will definitely stay there again!

Great find!

Danielle G. from Savannah, GA – Would stay again
Stayed Oct 2008, 2 days

We were very impressed with this little local hotel. It is in a perfect location, a little on the outskirts, yet close enough to walk to everything. We were celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary, and were looking for a place that was quiet. We also wanted to feel a little pampered, something we cannot do with the children in tow! The Bayfront Inn was really perfect. The room was very clean and beautifully decorated, it had the feel of a classy bed and breakfast. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Our room was located on the first floor, right next to the lobby, so we were a bit concerned that there would be noise, but there wasn't any! The staff was very friendly, they even let us check-in early, try that in a chain hotel! The hotel has a nice view of the bay, and is a short walk to all the great restaurants, shops, and sights of St. Augustine. We picked the hotel first and foremost for the price, which was very reasonable, and the most affordable in town, and were pleased to find the accomodations exceeded our expectations. If you are looking for a fun, affordable, peaceful, romantic getaway, look no further then The Bayfront Inn of St. Augustine!

Great dinner experience

Don't miss The Columbia Restaurant, located a short walk from the hotel. It was established in 1905, and is still run by the same family. They have wonderful spanish food, a great cultural experience, great service and atmosphere. They seated couples in a room separate from the big parties. The waitress was very knowledgeable and willing to make recommendations, etc. The food was very good, and a nice change from the usual American fare. It was a little pricey, but well worth every bite, and not any higher than the other restaurants in town.

pamper yourself

If you need a little relaxation and pampering, check out the Panache Salon and Spa. They have full spa services. I had a manicure and a pedicure, and felt like a queen for a little while! The staff was wonderful, very attentive, they even brought my husband a magazine and let him soak his feet while he waited for me, no extra charge! The spa is very nicely decorated, and has a very calming atmosphere.

something different

If you're looking for something fun, and romantic too, don't miss the San Sebastian Winery. It is a bit of a walk, we took the car, which was good for carrying back our purchases! They have a free tour and wine-tasting. Even if you don't like wine, it is very informative and fun. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. We did purchase some wine, thought this was not required. We also purchased some cheese and crackers and had a nice snack later that evening!
