Get a room close to the lobby

Anonymous from mokena, IL – Wouldn't stay again
Stayed Aug 2009, 6 days

We really loved the resort. It was beautiful and comfortable. The room has a large jacuzzi tub that takes up alot of needed space. We didn't use is while we were there. The rooms all have balconies with hammocks. The balconies are large enough to fit 4 adults comfortably. We sat out every evening. There were no mosquitoes so it was very enjoyable. The staff was so wonderful. They really went out of their way to cater to all of our needs. Room service was great and fairly quick. Usually within a half hour from ordering. The buffets were pretty good. It was kind of typical buffet food. It was great if you needed to eat quickly. The breakfast buffets were better than the dinner ones. The Japanese, Italian ;at golf course; and the Caribe at the Moon Grand lobby were all exceptional food. Other reviews said they had to wait for the sit down restaurants but we didn't experience that at all. The wait staff at the pools were very prompt as well. Make sure to try the seviche that is made near the pool outside the sunrise lobby. The sushi was pretty fresh and quite delicious as well. We stayed on the sunrise side but did travel over to nizuc and moon grand sides. The only down side to this place is the sheer size. There is no such thing as running up to the room if you forget something. Try to stay as close to the lobbies as possible. We traveled into downtown cancun to senor frogs and the crab house. Frogs during the day because we have little ones. Beach was ok at best. Water is murky and full of sea weed. If u want a great beach, stay on strip in Cancun.

Be generous with your tips!

We tipped the cleaning lady very generously and she was awesome. She cleaned up after our 6 kids. We have teenagers and it was really helpful to have her. It was the same lady all week and she was very grateful. She made sure to keep us stocked with towels, shampoo etc and the room was spotless and organized.

Outstanding Hotel

James J. from Lawrenceville, GA – Would stay again
Stayed Jul 2009, 5 days

I just returned from a 6 night stay at the Hilton Golf & Spa Hotel in Cancun, Mexico. The beach area was absolutely stunning and the water crystal clear. There is a small roped off area that has exposed rock in front of part of the hotel, but there is still plenty of beach on either side still on the hotel property. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff were wonderful and extremely friendly. Our favorite part of the hotel is their 7 pools and 2 hot tubs. The grounds are beautiful and security was visible throughout the days and nights. We felt very safe. My only negative comment is the drinks colas and bottle water; are expensive. Cokes cost $3.00 can or cup; with no free refills. The hotel food was good. We are already planning out next trip back to in September 2009.

Chichen Itza Tour

Rent a car from Budget Rental (inside Hilton Hotel) for a day trip to Chichen Itza. The cost was $89.00 US Dollars for 24 hours. The cost into Chichen Itza is $8.00 US Dollars per person. It cost me less than $200.00 US Dollars. Rent a guide. If you choose to use a local tour company, it will cost you $99.00 US Dollars per person (or cheaper if you are willing to visit a time-share). You'll also have to leave at 8:00 am and can't return until after 6:30 pm, and ou will also have to stay with the group.

Wal-Mart Trip

Go to the locate Wal-Mart to stock up on drinks and snacks. Bus rides are very cheap and run every few minutes in front of the hotel. Better yet, take a taxi. It is only 100 peso ($7.50 US Dollar each way) for up to 4 people. We had a van pick us up right outside the hotel door and dropped us off in front of the Wal-Mart door ($7.50 US Dollar). The same cost back.

One of the best vacations we've ever had.

Don L. from Wilmington, NC – Would stay again
Stayed Jun 2009, 4 days

Stayed June 10th through June 14th, 2009. The all-inclusive was great. Plenty of bars, good and great restaurants, fantastic pools, free mini-golf, free phone calls to the U.S. from your room, free internet and you don't need your computer as they have a business center with computers, fantastic landscaping and grounds. The resort has plenty of activities. It was probably only 30% occupied, but nothing was sacrificied. The staff, and I mean the entire staff, was exceptional. They were the friendliest, and most helpful staff we've ever seen. Gratuities are not required and they didn't seem to expect them. When we gave a gratuity they genuinely appreciated it. My wife, who doesn't normally like vacations, said that this was probably the nicest vacation she's ever had, and we do a lot of vacations. There were a few children there. Most people hung out at the pool during the day while drinking any type of drink you can think of. People seemed to be really enjoying themselves. They have a good golf course, free bicylcles, free kayaks, hobie cats, and sailfishes. Just go now while the rates are low due to fears of the swine flu. We didn't see any problems with that.
