The Dana on Mission Bay

Just wanted to say everyone at The Dana were extremely helpful and very courteous. The pictures on the website do not do justice to just how beautiful this hotel is. I would recommend anybody to stay here. The price was right and the location was perfect for us.

Rent a car

The only thing we would have done differently was rented a car, but that was certainly not the fault of the hotel and they even offered to get us a rental, but since we didn't know our way around, we walked to a lot of places and took cabs, which was fine too.

Wonderful place to stay. Close to everything. We did upgrade to a room with a terrace overlooking the bay. I highly recommend it. The front desk and concierige was very knowledgeable and helpful. I would give it 4 stars.

First of all the front staff is horrible including managers. They charge you to park at there hotel? I have never had to pay to park at a hotel. Second of all the front desk asked for my card so I gave it to her and I asked if she was gonna charge or hold any money she said NO. Come to find out they had a $* dollar hold on my card. I found this out 2 days laters and I explained that my husband is on R and R from Iraq (she saw him in ACU's the day before) and between enterprises $* dollar and there money hold we were left with almost no money and I wanted my husband to enjoy time before he goes back to war. They said sorry the hold stays *$ a night in case you order food. So I had to have family wire me money so my husband can enjoy his time in the states. The rooms are really small and you also have to pay * dollars a day if you want to use the internet. Oh and the maids dont knock they just walk straight in!! There is no fitness room. Its an elliptical and bike over 15 years old. They tell you, you can go to this fitness gym they are affiliated with and then when you check out they charge you * dollars a person if you go!! I will never go back and honestly I will never use travel online again. During the next deployment because of all this me and my husbad are just going to stay home. I am so upset how everything went and I thought after 3 weeks I wouldn't be so made but I still am!

We just returned from staying 3 nights at The Dana on Mission Bay. We had an awesome time. The room was perfect for us and our two teens. We had a bayside deluxe room that came with a private patio looking directly out at the bay. They even allowed us to check in early (late morning)! The room itself was quite large, having two separate areas for sleeping, allowing our teens to veg out and sleep in their own area with thier own TV. Staff were incredibly accommodating. Our room was always cleaned upon return from breakfast. And, although the bathroom sink initially drained very slowly, it was fixed within an hour. This place has tons of stuff to do. Boats and jet ski rentals, 2 pools with staff that will take your drink order, a hot tub where you can sit and watch the Seaworld fireworks, ping pong table just outside the pool area, and all within a 10-15 minute walk to Seaworld or the ocean coast. I would defintely recommend this place to anyone!

Actvities and dining choices

The walk to the ocean is probably a little over a mile, so you will need to be able body, although the entire walk is on sidewalk and you go over one of the bay bridges. The Seaworld walk is a bit shorter, but not a straight shot. Use the complimentary shuttle, its safer and obviously quicker (3 morning drop off times and 3 late afternoon/evening pick ups). Many other city attractions (zoo, dining) require transportation. Cab fares are typically $18-25 one way.

This hotel was beautiful! We had an excellent time. It was in a beautiful area. I felt safe and secure. The workers were wonderful and very polite! I couldn't ask for more. The room was perfect and so was the bathroom and beds/pillows. We were right on the bay 1st floor in the new addition. We were able to take long walks on sidewalks all the way to Mission beach! We did have a car which was 12.00 a night to park but it was well worth it knowing my car was in a safe off the road area! Thanks again Travel online/Dana on Mission Bay
