Worst Hotel ever!!
I stayed here with my family expecting it to be beautiful and amazing and for sure the lobby and the restaurants are lovely to look @. I feel like they really have taken pride in this hotel decore but the Hotel rooms are a different story. They are old inside, I felt like I was in a room from the 1970's. The beds where very old and hard, the bed covers look like they need to be replaced. I had a old fashion little tiny T.V. in my room, which was laughable! I could not believe that they wouldn't have a flat screen? Especially for how much they charge people a night here? Me and my husband had the worst sleep ever!! Our backs ached and we wanted to leave immediately, because we where so disapointed! Also when we checked out our daughter forgot something in the room, so when we called back later to see if they had it they could not locate what we where missing. That was really upsetting because we know we left it there! So Im thinking housekeeping threw it out!
wonderful place to stay!!
very positive environment :)
What are you paying for??
My boyfriend and I had a awful stay at the rimrock. Not only was everything closed: steam showers, locker rooms, Eden resterant, the spa (closed at 8pm), but the hot tub was not working and there was nothing around it stating this. So my boyfriend got in and burnt his legs when the front desk person finally arived back we asked why the hot tub was so hot. He proceeded to tell us that the temp. control was broken so the temp was either very hot or cold. when I spoke to the manager about this whole expereince, it then became a week ordeal about her having to talk/ investagate to all the people and deparments before she would let me know what they were going to do regarding our stay. For all the times we have stayed in banff, if you want your money worth book with the farmount springs resort. The rimrock is maybe a 3 star but not even close to 4.5 star.
understated elegance with amazing lounge, food, drink, and view
We have just returned from our 7-night stay at the Rimrock and we loved the great close-up mountain view from our room, the exceptional food and beverage, and the apre-ski at the lounge. The Rimrock has an understated elegance, for those who prefer quiet enjoyment of luxury without the hype and crowd. The hotel uses eco paper and energy efficient lighting in rooms. The Rimrock is nestled in the mountain just a few minutes of drive from the Banff town, but when at the hotel and look out window at the close-up view of the mountains, it feels like it's the only trace of civilization miles around. You can get complimentary shuttle/bus ride to Banff town and the ski resorts. We had cocktails at the lounge every day during our stay, and have been consistently impressed with their cocktails and hot beverages. The beautifully-presented drinks often used fresh/real juices and tasted amazing. We loved our room-service breakfast and also the smoked salmon on multi-grain bagels and plain yogurt parfait. However, the experience in a mountain-view rooms vs. a non-mountain-view rooms is very distinct. We spent our first night at a non-mountain-view room, which felt like room in a 3-star hotel, with a tiny 17"" old tv inside the cabinet, tiny bathroom, bed linen that is old, thin and un-starched, and mattress that has no extra pillow-top. It did not feel luxurious or pampering at all. So the next day we moved into a mountain view room. That's when our vacation truly started. By comparison, the mountain view room has larger bathroom with bigger counter. large closet, large LCD flat screen TV, breathtaking mountain view, thicker starched bed linens, mattress with pillow-top padding, and refridgerator. The maid service was great. But there is no free internet service. Spa facility was iffy.
Rim Rock Resort
My husband and I stayed here in late September. The staff was wonderful, there are many young Australians and various other nationalitites working at the hotel, they were great. The location couldn't be better. It's a bit above the town, but it's one of the best pieces of real estate in Banff. If you need to walk to town, though it'd be a bit of a walk. There's a hotel shuttle that leaves every 30 minutes. I'll take the view and the staff here, over the Banff Springs Hotel any day. Definitely visit Banff Springs Hotel, but stay here.
