Anniversary trip

Jacquelyn Rebekah H. from Aynor, SC – Would stay again

What an incredible treat!!! My husband and I always make a weekend trip to Charleston a couple of times a year. It just happens to be our favorite place to visit that is within driving distance of home, yet still allows us to feel as if we are on an incredible vacation. We have now celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary and year after year find ourselves at the rooftop bar at the Market Pavilion Hotel when visiting beautiful Charleston, SC. This year I decided instead of just visiting the hotel for lunch and drinks, we would stay at the hotel as well. I CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW MUCH IN LOVE WE ARE WITH THIS PLACE!!! The staff make you feel as if you are the most important person in the whole city of Charleston. It is just fantastic. Charleston has it all, for all ages, and The Market Pavilion Hotel is the diamond in the center of it all. Helpful hint....get to the pool early for lounge chairs!!

Great but not willing to negotiate

Anonymous from Columbia, SC – Would stay again
Stayed Feb 2009, 1 day

This hotel was nice, but we were denied the "special" offered on their website. It was a last minute request (night before check-in) for a package including champagne and cheese at 6:30pm with valet parking. We were told the only special available was the weekend package. It was a Wednesday night in February. They were unwilling to give on the valet parking as compensation for not having the offer . Considering at 8am the next morning there were only 3 papers outside others' doors on our entire floor, I'm at odds with this hotel. The rooms are amazing and the amenities were wonderful. I was a little surprised to find trash and a HUGE ink stain on the carpet considering that they made it VERY clear any hint of cigarette smoke is an immediate 300.00 charge. All of the staff were pleasant. We would have been more willing to spend more money there, but it would have been much nicer if we had been able to get the package we had originally signed up for. Despite that, I will make reservations earlier in the future; I highly recommend this hotel for the comfort, the congeniality, and the view from the rooftop.

Market Pavillion was a wonderful experience

Nancy P. from Fruitland Park, FL – Would stay again
Stayed Dec 2007, 2 days

My husband and I stayed at Market Pavillion as our Christmas gift to one another. We met friends there for our annual "splurg". Our stay was even better than we expected. The rooms were beautiful and the staff went out of their way to accomodate us. The dining experience in Grill 225 was as good as it gets. Prices were high, but the meal was delicious. Side dishes can be shared by 4 people. Everything we wanted to see was in walking distance. We are all looking forward to a return trip.

Boone Hall Plantation

We made a side trip to Boone Hall Plantation from Charleston to Mt. Pleasant. This was an interesting slice of life in the early time of the area. I would recommend this trip to anyone. This is an actual working plantation, with a beautiful house. We drove to Isle of Palms for a wonderful lunch at Sea Island Grill at Wild Dunes.

girls getaway

sara w. – Wouldn't stay again
Stayed Sep 2006, 1 day

My sister visited Charleston to attend the homes and gardens tours. We shopped and considered the Market Pavilion to be perfectly situated. It was near everything. The concierge was excellent and very helpful. If I am pressed to offer constructive criticism, it would be the rooftop bar. It was so crowded with visitors, the hotel guests were squeezed out. There should be an area reserved just for hotel guests.
