Great Resort
We stayed for 7 night's this Aug 2009 it was one of the best places we have stayed at .The service is top notch and the people really care about your satisfaction while your there. The buffet in the morning is a can't miss great food and service. We are already planing our return trip in the very near future. We also booked a privite island tour while we were there through the hotel and it was fantastic . We went to places you would not normally see through a regular circle island tour this is one I would recommened to everyone if you can afford it!! Anthony was our driver and he shared the island culture and some hidden places on the island it was great we were out for over 6 hour's and saw the entire island. Be prepaired it is expensive but if you want the best you have to pay for it. Enjoy!!
They Spoiled Us Rotten!
We can only say wonderful things about the Halakulani Hotel. It is beautiful: from the rooms to the gardens, to the wall-less reception desk, and common areas. The food in the restaurant, The House Without A Key, and room service were superb. From our room it appeared the waves were breaking under the hotel. What a georgeous optical illusion. But...the best part was the people and the service they provided. We were always greeted warmly and our name was always used. Every question was answered. For example, we admired a flower in the garden and asked what was its name at the concierge desk. Flora is certainly not their specialty and they appologized for their ignorance. About an hour later we receive a knock on our door and the anser was delivered in a folder with a 10 page print out on the flower in question. We loved the little gift left for us each night after room service turned down or bed and the welcoming gift when we arrived of the chocolates and fresh fruit. I have traveled where the employees are courtious but here they were warm and friendly and helpfull. We will return!
Great service . . . tired decor.
Aloha, We stayed at the Halekulani for a week in January 2009. The service was consistently excellent. Wait staff, bell boys, concierge, maids, room service - every single employee we encountered went way above and beyond to make sure our needs were met, and then some. That said, the hotel rooms and furnishings were something of a disappointment. The decor seemed tired and worn, and even the mid-range rooms were small. On the whole, the hotel interior seemed to have seen better days, and would not compare favorably to hotels on the mainland at less than half the price. Still, the service and the food made up for that deficiency, so we still felt like we got our money's worth. We would absolutely return to the Halekulani, were we to visit Oahu again. However, our next visit to Hawaii will probably be to one of the other islands, simply because the town and its architecture, like the Halekulani's interior, seem to hold on to their glory days of the 60's and 70's, maybe through inertia or want of a new formula. Think Hawaii 5-0 reruns on your big-screen plasma TV, and you've got the picture, Dano. Mahalo!
Amazing!
A beautiful hotel situated right on the ocean. The views of the water and Diamond Head are fantastic, and the proximity to restaurants, shops and other things to do is terrific. If you just want to lounge by the pool, the chairs are very comfortable and the staff incredibly helpful. The service overall is simply out of this world. They can help with any kind of arrangement, from rental cars to running and hiking options. The rooms are beautiful and sitting out on the patio was a great way to end the day. We absolutely loved our stay in paradise!

Surf school
The hotel can set you up with surf lessons at the beach right next door. Staff was great! They got both my wife and I up in our first lesson, and now we're hooked.
Perfection
We stayed ten days at Halekulani. Our intention was to Island hop while keeping the hotel as a basel. We had such a good time at the hotel and the surrounding area as well as the whole of Oahu we decided to forego the other Islands on this trip. The hotel is maintained in spotless condition. The staff is honestly gracious and friendly. Service is perfect. The food great. Activities abound and if not local will be arranged for you. Security is visible and professional and not "In your face". The newly renovated Lewers Road is packed with new retail and restaurants worth a visit. High end as well as economy minded gifts are a short walk away. The price of these accomodations is justified. We will return to this hotel, they have spoiled us.

Additional Great Food
The restaurants at Halekulani are fantastic but for variety across the stree try Roy's- Great Fish, Steak and Sushi. Half a block up Lewers Rd. on the right is Giovanni Pastrami a Restaurant and Sports Bar which has great breakfast, lunch and dinner reasonably priced. Across the street from Giovanni Pastrami on Lewers you MUST try Ruth's Crip Restaurant (Second floor of the new mall) The Steaks are spectacular, make a reservation because the waits can be long. You must do Senior Frogs durring the day it is family oriented and then in the evening.... WOW! FUN!
