Great weekend getaway!
We had a lovely visit to the Southampton Inn last week. Spring had almost arrived and the Inn was peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed reading by the fireplace in the Inn's library and strolls "downtown" along Jobs Lane (heard about that for years) and Main Street. We visited Coopers Beach -- beautiful and no one was there except a few dogs and masters. Dinner at OSO was just as good as the reviews say! We had a steak and duet of duck (perfectly prepared) and desserts looked tasty, but were pretty heavily chocolate. Service throughout was friendly and helpful. We had never stayed on a Tempur Pedic mattress before, but they are fantastic! All in all, we highly recommend the Southampton Inn as an affordable, while still elegant and cozy, escape from the city this time of year.

Only the location works
This hotel offers rooms that smell, no amenities, mildew on the bathroom walls, a door latch that traps you in the bathroom, broken tiles in the bath, an exhaust fan that doesn't work, and cheap decorating. The internet service is $10.00 per night and is pathetically slow and unreliable. They allow dogs in the room and won't tell the pet owner when people are awakened by the dog in the next room and call to complain. No in room coffee and the lobby coffee is cut off at 7 AM. The restaurant opens at 7:30 so if you want to grab breakfast before going to work in the morning you are out of luck. While I understand the expense of the area, I also expect some basic amenities and a certain amount of value for my money. I didn't find that here.
