ONLY HOTEL TO STAY IN
Stayed for a weekend and the stay was fantastic! We found the hotel to be very clean, private, central and modern. The staff was tremendously accomodating and helpful. They were able to give me my room # even before I arrived! All in all, this is the ONLY hotel I will ever stay in when coming to NYC! The staff was the best!
Not ready for prime time
This hotel is under construction in all of the public areas and is quite a mess to get around. While the room was clean and comfortable and the staff was accommodating, the hotel was not worth staying in unless you get a very low rate and don't care about the public areas. Walking down a steep curving staircase covered in drywall dust to get to the street level, competing with workmen for the elevators and listening to the buzz of compressors and electric nail guns and saws every time we entered or exited the hotel was too much. Housekeeping was excellent but the rest of the staff tried to ignore or downplay the situation. The workmen were more apologetic than the staff. We were not forewarned of the situation even though we talked to the hotel directly before making our reservation. There are many other good deals on hotels in NYC right now, try one of those first.
A good exerience at a hotel under transition
This hotel is under rennovation and switching to a new brand shortly. Despite the works underway, this hotel was good place to crash on a Friday night in midtown. They upgraded me to a suite which I was not expecting, so for that I am making the effort to give them a thumbs up. Nice rooms, a bit noisy, but this is 57th and Lex, what do you expect?
Hotel experience at Hotel 57
We liked the hotel decor and modern features of both rooms that we stayed in. However, when the room with double beds that we booked was not available, the manager was very rude and not accommodating. He had said that it was the online travel websites fault that we didn't have a room with two double beds. (I had confirmed with a Hotel 57 staff member that we would have two double beds prior to booking the trip/ hotel online). Luckily one of the other front desk workers, X, was accommodating and found us a room that was a nice replacement. This was only fair considering we had to re-pack up all of things and move in the middle of our trip because that room was only available for one night. Overall the hotel was great and easy to get to, even being on the east side of town. However, the management staff needs to attend hospitality classes or consider moving on to a job that doesn't require customer service. Thanks again, X.
GREAT HOTEL
stayed at this hotel with a friend and our daughters. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Needed more hangers, no problem just called down and they brought up more. Beds were fantastic, feather beds, feather duvets and feather pillows. Bathroom very modern and clean, good water pressure in shower. Rooms cleaned every day, very clean. Ate at the restaurant Opia, food was excellent, service great. ONLY downside, the terrace was closed for renovations. Would definately stay there again

Hop on Hop off
If you don't have reservations and are just going to wing it, make your way to 9th Ave (Hells kitchen) apparently it's the place to be for good food/drinks without a reservation. The rink at the Rockerfella centre closes at midnight, some restaurants close at 10pm!!!!! Hop on hop off passes great value, tours are good and informative(if you get a good guide) Also if you go to Macys get a visitors 11 percent off discount, you need ID to get it though.
