Paradise

Bob W. from Aliquippa, PA – Would stay again
Stayed Oct 2009, 7 days Most Recent Stay

Hello, My wife and I stayed at Dreams Palm Beach resort from Oct. 19-26. The food was excellent. Many options for dinning. I had lobster, sea bass, steaks, all types of seafood, fresh fruit every meal, and 24 hour room service if you were lazy.Great desserts each meal. The three pools were very nice and enjoyed the drink service all throughout the resort. It was all-inclusive and worth every penny. Fully stocked refrigerator each day with beer, fruit drinks, pop, and water. Very friendly service at the bars, restaurants, pools, and beach. New convention center is great. We went to a different show every night. We are going back next year for sure. The nicest resort we have ever been to in our life!

Don't be scared by many of the other reviews

Christine M. from Pomona, NY – Wouldn't stay again
Stayed Sep 2009, 5 days

After I started reading many of the reviews for Dreams, I was definitely worried. I will say that even though, I probably wouldn't stay there again, it's not because it was as horrible as other reviews made it out to be. It is more because there are definitely some inconsistencies that need to be worked out and I probably would like to try another resort/country. The pros of the trip are as follows: very close to the airport 15 minutes. I have been to other islands where the resort is at least an hour a way and the roads not well paved/or defined, however this was simply not the case in Punta Cana. With that being said, it is important to note ;and I did not when booking this resort is on the Atlantic side of the ocean. So if you are going here to enjoy the crystal blue water of the Carribean, this may not be the resort for you. I can also say though, that the water was more crystal green and the seaweed that I read about in other reviews, is there, but it isn't that much in most areas and it shouldn't be something to be concerned about. We had been warned about getting up early to get shade, but we don't think the resort was as crowded since it was the beginning of September. The food/drink was inconsistent. One drink could be awesome, then the next one could look and taste much different. The Italian restaurant was our WORST meal, but we did enjoy all of the others. The entertainment at Dreams was something that really stood out. Gasolina and the entertainment staff definitely kept you entertained. A very bright spot for this resort is the staff. Very friendly and helpful!

Room selection

Upon check in, ask to see other categories of rooms before you decide on "the preferred club". We decided after seeing the room(s) the money/"perks" that came with the preferred club weren't worth it.

Great place

Anthony T. from Fresh meadows, NY – Would stay again
Stayed Jul 2009, 6 days

This resort has it all. Great food at the dinner restaurants. The only problem is the long wait to get seated if you don't get there early. The buffet for lunch and dinner is ok, could be better with the food. The burgers and hot dogs at the beach could be better. Overall this is a great place to stay at with everything that is included. From the food, liquor, activities and shows at night. There is no need to leave the resort.

Stay Away!!!!

Felicia H. from Severn, MD – Wouldn't stay again
Stayed Jul 2009, 7 days

My vacation at the Dreams Palm Beach was the worst vacation experience I have ever had. The food was adequate at best, the accommodations were nice except in building 9 which smells of sewage. I had to get up at 6:30 a.m. to reserve a lounger by the pool (although the hotel says you cannot reserve a lounger at the pool or on the beach, if you don't get up early you won't get one because they are all reserved with towels, caps, shoes, books, whatever people can use to claim it). There is no elevator service so be prepared for that and the wait staff/maids, etc. speak very little english. Their favorite term is my pleasure as they fail to fullfill your request. I waited 3 hours one day for toilet tissue, 3-days for hot water. Called travel online for help and was told I could leave or pay for accommodations at another resort.

What to pack & what to do...

If you are a tipper, which we are, bring a bundle of singles, it's hard to find them there unless you ask the cocktail servers, they have them. Men bring long pants and women - nice evening wear, dresses, skirts etc for dinner. Men need long pants but can still wear sandals, women are pretty free to wear what they like, dress as fancy as you like, you see it all. Get to Hibachi dining early, a line forms. Sea Pro diving team has great excursions, do the party boat and the parasailing, it's a lot of fun!
