Beautiful, safe, and friendly
Choose this hotel since it was located near friends who live near Place de Bastille and were visiting to cellabrate my daughters 16th birthday. This was the best experience. Staff was friendly (esp. Adrian), rooms were beautiful and clean, quiet, and neighborhood was safe. Across the footbridge there are quant shops and it is a short walk to the Place where the cafes and night life are the new hot spot in Paris. It was our first visit and the hotel arranged for airport transport that made is so easy. They communicated by email several times prior to our visit. They are loosing a star from me since if you didn't get down to breakfast early on the weekend, there was very little left except bread and cheese. When it was gone, it was gone. When it was there it was wonderful, eggs, saugsage, increditble yogurt and local fare. They did not provide face cloths however did upon request. Bath tubs are very high, so if you have a disability, it may be hard to navigate with out help. Entire hotel is immaculate, classy, good air conditioning (which is necessary but not found in too many hotels that are this small) and smoke free. Beds were great, with soft down comforters and pillows--very boughtique style. At night the doors are locked but you can ring in. Electronic cards for your room. I can't say enough about how much a difference it made that we stayed in this hotel. LOved it there.........
just outside of the glittery part of town
very clean and well edited hotel, small room, comfortable bed, decent shower pressure, english-speaking staff - nice people. only drawback to room itself was the lack of peephole on the door. note that the hotel is close to place de la bastille, and therefore not centrally located, i.e. not close to the touristy locations, but within walking distance of the marais and its great boutiques (loved zadig & voltaire!), and of course, the metro will get you around in no time at all.

boulangerie
the boulangerie/patisserie across from the pharmacie at the top of rue jules cesar is quite good. if you're looking for a cheap lunch, their baguette sandwiches definitely hit the spot.
