Modest but adequate.

The part of the hotel we stayed in was old, I think there is a new wing. The room was small it did not smell bad but the air conditioner was loud and near the head area of the beds. For two gals always on the go and did not spend much time there, separtate single beds , and a free refrigerator and hair dryer, it was okay. I wish it had a coffee maker or something to heat water. The facilites were clean, but the shower stall was a bit beat up. Keep in mind we did not see other rooms. It had daily maid service, with change of towels, the towels were sometimes older and tattered. The people were always nice and helpful. The little freebies were soap, body lotion and combo shampoo/conditioner only. The restaurant was not the best and not expensive. The area is near the zoo near the end of the hotel row, but up the street away from street noise of the walkway except on exceptional days, like Halloween which was pretty fun. I would say it is a very safe area to wander even at night. If you rent a car, you will find metered parking area within a couple of blocks that you can park your car after 6 PM (free on Sunday), and leave it overnight till 7 AM, instead of $* per night at the hotel. If you are used to a five star and you can do better, then do that. If you are on a budget and just want to get away a still have fun, this is adequate.

So-So

My "adult room" was a tiny room with 2 twins beds! On the plus side, it certainly encouraged me to be out on Waikiki Beach that much more. The hotel is old, and dingy - but let's face it. It IS Hawaii. The beach was about a 3 minute walk. Hotel staff was friendly, certainly didn't go out of their way at all. The hotel restaurant is close, but you should definitely walk across the street or down the beach to find something decent to eat! Parking was frightening, but it appears that is pretty much par for the course in Waikiki Beach. This place is mediocre if you are on a tight budget, but if at all possible, stay somewhere better!

excellent for $

For the dollors paid it was a very good stay! The hotel is older but well maintained for its age and much more comfortable than the seats in the air plane ride over and back. excellent location and friendly staff. Resturant is a different company but very affordable, breakfast is very good, #18 eggs bacon and pancakes and add toast $ an excellent way to start a long day , other meals ok. Mc D's is more $. parking is ok but poor anywhere in Honolulu especially Wikiki, Banyon kitty corner is better bigger and cheaper. Showers are short but my wife didn't get her hair wet if she didn't want, if your to old to bend over to wash your hair you probably shouldn't be there anyway. read someof the other reviews. We had a smaller room fridge only and no view, but where always gone so who cares.

Decent Old Hotel for Budget Minded Travelers, but . .

Anonymous from Rogers, AR – Would stay again

Just an old hotel, not a resort. Room was okay for the price. Not pristine clean, but old hotels never are. Parking was ridiculous - for $15 per day if you could maneuver in and out. We found a better garage in the next block at the Banyan for $10. Good location, walking distance from beach and also to shopping but not centrally located for shopping. Staff was not friendly, but not really rude. We paid extra for an ocean view and it was worth it. If you are looking for a wonderful place at a bargain price, you wont like it here. But for a place to sleep and shower on a tight budget it is satisfactory. RG, Arkansas.
