Attended Wedding Here and Spend a Few Days
I thought it was a delightful place. Good food, interesting accomodations in a lovely old home that has been well preserved. Care was given to maintaining the original architecture and charm. Food was good and staff was very attentive. Pricey, but that's the way it is with nice places. The absence of an elavator makes the need for a bellman important.
Terrible, depressing hotel
We booked this hotel online "special" and it was awful. The room was dirty, the common areas smelled terrible and the pools were small and crowded. To top it all off, the "Pointe" where we stayed was really a motor lodge type motel - right on a main road. We did look at switching into a Castle room - they were somewhat better than the Pointe but still not what I expected from the website. We asked the front desk for information about nearby movies and they were NOT helpful - pointed us to a newspaper in the foyer that was from February .... shabby, depressing, not a good place for a romantic weekend.
Would I stay here again?
Appearances can be deceiving. We booked their $* internet special. We saw the pictures of the mansion and thought that our accommodations would be similar in style. \n \nWhat we got was a 1/3 condo, 2 twin beds butted up to each other, 1/2 shower (large enough for a midget), maid service who only brought new towels, etc. You get the picture. \n \nWas up here for our anniversary, made dinner reservations only to be told busload of tourists were to be in at 6 pm and no one can be there at that time. We changed our plans and made dinner reservations at the Inn at Weathersfield. (BTW Great food, superb atmosphere) \n \nMeanwhile, the mansion's food was so-so. Not the best I had, nor the worst. \n \nBottle of champagne and chocolates was nice touch, but totally out of character for room quality. \n \nSo the question is would I stay back here in the condo...NO! \n \nThe mansion would be nice, except for the fact that there are nicer places to stay for the money. \n
