Legends trip 2009

Bill m. from erie, PA – Wouldn't stay again
Stayed Aug 2009, 7 days Most Recent Stay

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean but the door had a large gap and noise and other critters came in at will. The bed was very hard. The food offered at he resort was poor and not much variety. We got in late after the restraunt had closed and they served us a cheese sandwich and stale cake.

Great days on the beach

Fran P. from Bellevue, NE – Would stay again
Stayed Mar 2009, 4 days

My husband and I spent four days at Samsara and then the last four at Legends...we were worried when we had walked to Legends from Samsara when we saw wall to wall spring breakers but by the time we had checked into Legends it was at the end of spring break, the beaches were less packed and were able to find a spot to lay out. You can walk for miles on the beach in either direction and find plenty of things to entertain yourself. We had a moonlight lobster dinner down the way and went parasailing. The staff at Legends were pleasant and helpful. The beds like Samsara were extremely hard and if you don't mind not sleeping thru the night, it's okay. Our room overlooked the water, it's safe to wander on the beach, security guards keep people from pestering you to buy something. The only drawback was there is limited chairs to sun in or few places to get any bit of shade which is helpful in the afternoon so you have to stake out your chairs at breakfast. I was impressed with the safety all along the beachfront properties and have no fear about sending my children down there next year for spring break, they will love it.

Okay

Isak/Jennifer H. from Sunrise, FL – Wouldn't stay again
Stayed Feb 2009, 4 days

We spent my wife's birthday in Negril. My mission was to get a trip for the cheapest price for a long weekend. We have traveled to a lot of Caribbean Islands and we like to adventure out and meet the native people and feel the day to day struggle on the islands on our own. The hotel was simple, clean and we felt safe. The bed was only a box spring mattress (or that is want it felt like) and very hard, and the door had a gap that let any type of noise in. This is not a hotel to recommend for anyone that expects to have tiny bottles of shampoo in there rooms, with pillow top and a silent retreat. But for the price and our personal trip it was okay bring your own toiletries even a wash cloth. We barely spoke to any of the Staff except from the security out to the street and on the beach, they were nice. Negril has a beautiful beach with a great sunset. The beach at the hotel itself is long but not very wide so it gets kind of cramped. If you like to stay within the area of the hotel security is watching. The security is there to protect you from all the hustlers and people that trying to make a living. The hustlers are like mosquitoes in the middle of a swamp but they usually only bite once and a firm no is okay. The reggae concerts along the beach are awesome and sometimes they are free.

Trinas spot/Mayfields Falls

We do not understand people that go these all inclusive places and miss out on these jewels of opportunities to try something different to eat. There are plenty of opportunities to find local tasty food around the corner and treat your taste buds to something new. Since there is barely any tourists there, there are not that many hustlers either. We loved sitting in the morning sun at Trina's spot 100 yards away from the hotel eating breakfast. If you do not like the local variety Trina would be happy to cook you some bacon and eggs with toast. It is right by the main street and there is action all the time with different things to look at. Trina herself was very pleasant and gave outstanding service. Prices were designed for locals since she did most of her business with the locals. Her business was open from 7 in the morning to 1 am at night and we liked it a lot. She had the coldest beer on the island. We adventured away on one trip to the Mayfields falls. The tours would have cost us $120 US with the regular guided tours. We ended up spending $70 US when we hired a taxi driver that we had taken a ride with the night before. Always go with your gut feeling when selecting people that you ride with. We had an extraordinary day with Donovan. You can find his information now at Trina's spot. He is safe driver that does not drink and does not smoke(at least to our knowledge). Donovan picked up his two sons at his ex wife's house in the middle of Savanna De La Mare where he lived and they came with us for the ride. It could be described as a ram shack neighborhood or the middle of nowhere. We drove on winding, broken roads to a place that was so beautiful and untouched that you only could imagine. The Mayfields falls is a creek that is winding up a mountain with several pools of crystal clear water. Bring your bathing suits because you are going to be wet and you are going to like it. We did not expect the $15 US coverage charge and the $6 US rental shoe charge but it was all worth it. Our guide did an excellent job and I can not imagine the excitement during the rainy season. Remember to tip the people, not because you have to, just because you are helping people on the island to survive. This is still a third world country where people are living on existentially the bare minimum and need help from outside. The all inclusive resorts are where the rich get richer and the poor gets poorer.

2009 Negril trip

Anonymous from shiocton, WI – Would stay again

The rooms were quite pleasant and the staff was very friendly. The food was very good for the most part for the type of resort it is. i would stay there again. We did not do the all inclusive as we like traveling around the area to eat at many different places. The Samsara resort was also nice to visit.
