We Loved It!
I traveled here with my boyfriend and his parents for a week in early September. They had been here before and always come back. We had ocean view rooms which were phenomenal - almost like suites. Huge balconies. High speed internet was included. Staff were very friendly, always cleaning. Views from all around the resort were wonderful - the West Maui Mts, Lanai, Molokai, the ocean, etc. The big advantage of staying here is that you are right at Black Rock and can snorkel easily. Much of Ka'anapali Beach walks down here to snorkel, it is nice to have it be part of your hotel. Sunsets are amazing and the nightly cliff diver adds to the ambience. The pool is well laid out with waterfalls, tropical foliage and little private grottos to get lost in. If you're never been to Ka'anapali Beach you will be pleasantly surprised at the beach sidewalk which runs all along it between the resorts and the ocean. You can go for a nightly walk and choose from all of the restaurants. There is also a great mall within walking distance - Whaler Village. Also, the weather stays nicer on Ka'anapali than in other areas of Maui due to being on the leeward side. I would highly recommend Sheraton Maui as a resort. I would also recommend eating your meals at some of the fabulous restaurants in Lahaina.
room was dirty, with bathroom urine stains
given Sheraton high prices, we expected a clean room, but the room smelled and the bathroom had not been cleaned well, urine stains. Front desk said sorry no more available rooms for you and will send a maid which they did after a long wait which helped some. Restaurant service was slow and nonresponsive. Much better experience at other Maui hotels
suited us to a "T"
Wedding party and guests, comprising of 9 families and other guests stayed this last June. Wedding at Old Lahaina. Sheraton was perfect back drop, and hotel for all the families. Enough activities for the younger ones, great pool and bar for oldsters. Staff friendly, helpful, and took personal interest in making our stay great. Location perfect to enjoy Kaanapali beach area and Lahaina. Service and food top notch, we loved ease of great coffee and fabulous cinnamon rolls from the lobby in the morning, being early risers. Pool/ bar area had great finger food for all ages. Snorkeling as good as Maui has to offer around Black Rock. We enjoyed panoramic view and ocean from our lanai.
Dream Come True Thanks to Sheraton !!!
I can't wait to come back. The Ocean View was quiet and fabulous. People friendly especially the concierge who took time to book all of our tours, reservations for restaurants, made excellent recommendations on what to do/when to make our Dream Come True Vacation; 20th Anniversary/My 50th Birthday celebration memorable. The BLACK ROCK SPA was perfect. My husband and I especially love the Beach Services with the Cobana set up and making it so easy to arrange for our Parasailing and Snorkeling experience in the immediate area. The LUAU was beautiful with the ocean as a background and the DIVER off the Black ROCK was a special touch with the sunset. The food and OPEN bar was great and the bar tender had no problem sprucing up my drink. THE Breakfast buffet was delicious, with fresh fruit & vegetable and it was great to have the stable food but a little variety each day too. KEEP the OMELET person. Great touch !!!
Great Experience!
We had great a experience at this hotel. Beautiful location. Went there mid May for a week (6 night stay). I wanted to have breakfast included- buffet style at the hotel which was plentiful with fruits and hot bar as well as omlet bar. Breakfast was a great value - open 6:30AM-11AM, so you can go at your convinience. We would get so full, so we did not need to eat til dinner. Great service! Booked through a online travel website, so we checked in at small desk up front, everything was waiting for us including breakfast coupons/resort charges included-great value. We were upgraded from the partial ocean front view to full ocen front view room, which had spectacular views. I did make a car rental arrangements with Dollar, so this was the only bad experience. I upgraded to mid size car on -line, which turned out to be PT Cruiser- very small, but thankfully, we were all able to fit in since we did not have too much luggage. If you rent a car go for the next class bigger. Also, check in at Dollar rent-a-car was painfuly long- about 1 hrs. We traveled with a small child (1.5yrs old) and my parents. Hotel has beautiful grounds, nicely maintained. We would take a walk along the beach after breakfast to Whalers Village where you can do shopping/dining. A lot of activities at the beach- my husband and dad went parasailing for $70/person for 15 min which was not too bad. Took a trip to Paia (north side of the island)- art galleries abound if you like art. Prices at Whalers Village are the same or little less for the prints. I went snrokling to the Black Rock and each time saw a sea turtle and plenty of fish.

Dining at Hotel/Outside
There is a program where you tidy your room at the hotel for a day to get a $30 credit toward dinner- which we gladly used $60 for 2 rooms and ate dinner 4 persons main course for $110. Went for dinner to Leilani's on the beack in Whalers villlage and best fish was bredrcrumb and parmesan dusted. My parents went to Luau and the had great time!
