A Beatiful Peaceful Retreat!
The hotel is very peaceful and quiet, and the grounds are beautiful. The pool is nice;though the water was ice cold;. The hotel property borders the Torrey Pines Reserve - the walk to the beach via the paths through the reserve are scenic, and quite a memorable experience;the walk takes about 40 minutes;. The restaurant is very good - the food was wonderful;eat on the outside deck;. All of the staff are extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are nicely sized, and the decor throughout the lodge is Mission style. Even in July, the nights are cool, and the fireplace in the lobby is burning in the evenings/mornings.
Lodge at Torrey Pines Review
The hotel is beautifully appointed and should be situated in the mountains with a river to it's side. The rooms are spacious and the grounds are aesthetically pleasing. The only little downfall is that the main lobby has a beautiful wood fireplace running 24/7 and the ""campfire"" smoke permeates the entire hotel grounds. Once you walk outside, you smell like you've been making smores. Otherwise, the property is beautiful.
Beautiful
Wonderful service. Gorgeous room. Spend extra and get a room facing the golf course and ocean.
Best San Diego Hotel!
We stayed for 3 nights at the Lodge at Torrey Pines, with 2 small children ages 3 and a 5 month old infant - the service was fantastic - there but not in your face, the room was very large (we didn't pony up for a view) with a balcony, the restaurant was great, and the facilities were top notch - beautiful pool, spacious fitness center and of course, the course at Torrey Pines (which is not part of the hotel, but they have 'special priviledges' there) - they helped find us a babysitting service so it made our stay even that better. All in all, I can't wait to return.
Lovely, but....
A beautiful facility with very helpful staff. Food and service at The Grill was excellent and well-priced. Two problems. I could have sworn that the package detail included free parking -- no, no, no. It was $22 per night to self park. I thought that - for the price of the room - the self-parking should have been much, much less (if not free). Second problem - the ""business area"" that contained a PC, printer, and phone (rooms have free internet access, but no printers), was nothing more than a small, converted closet with a single dim ceiling light. We'd definitely stay there again if someone else paid the bill, but the extravagence (for us) was just a one-time event.
