Outstanding Design and Location

Dean F. from Fort Lee, NJ – Would stay again
Stayed Oct 2008, 4 days Most Recent Stay

This is the most modern, cutting edge hotel I've stayed at. We were upgraded (at no extra charge) to a suite, which was like a nice sized, big-city studio apartment. The room had all the things you'd expect in a modern hotel (no iron, though), plus a full-sized PC with internet access, free in-room wireless, two sofas, a full-sized desk, flat screen TV, gigantic bathtub for two, and bedside lighting control for the whole ""apartment."" The only issue was the bed, which was very firm, even with an extra mattress pad they provided. The location is great -- walking distance to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square in one direction, and modern shopping malls in the other. Only one block away is one of the famous ""night markets"" where you can get scorpion on a stick! If you're in the mood for finer fare, the hotel's restaurant is excellent and has reasonable prices. The buffet breakfast was very complete, though it's a little pricey if the room price doesn't include it already (around $12 per person). All-in-all, highly recommended, unless you can't sleep in a very firm bed.

Really liked this hotel.

Ethan W. from Chicago, IL – Would stay again
Stayed Mar 2008, 5 days

I travel for a living; so stay in a lot of hotels around the world and would rank this as one of my \nfavorites. I didn't use many of the hotel amenities, but the rooms were clean, comfortable and \nvery modern. I stayed there twice in 2 weeks--my first room was a little more expensive, but had\na computer/internet, view of some Forbidden City Buildings and a huge bathtub. Breakfast was \nthe only meal I had there, but was good and decent variety. Staff was friendly and helpful, \nbut not overly so. Location was great--easy walk to the Forbidden City, Tian an men Square,\nand subways. A boutique hotel; so smaller and a bit more personal. Would highly recommend.

Lotus House Restaurant

Not easy being a vegetarian in China sometimes--out the front door of the hotel, turn right and walk\nabout 10 minutes. Restaurant just after the Peninsula Hotel.
