Located in the heart of the historic Gaslamp Quarter, The Gaslamp Plaza Suites is an all suites property surrounded by shopping, theater, art galleries and more than 100 restaurants and night clubs. Built in 1913, this historic hotel was originally built as San Diego's first skyscraper featuring 11 stories of marble, brass, mosaic tile and Australian gumwood. The original architectural aspects are still evident including original marble on walls and stairways, coiffured ceilings, brass elevator doors and Australian gumwood carpentry around the etched glass windows and doors. All are preserved meticulously in keeping with the hotels status of being listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Hotel amenities include complimentary continental breakfast, concierge, business services, meeting room, laundry valet, and a rooftop terrace. Enjoy jazz music and a glass of wine in the Syrah Wine Parlor open Tuesday through Sunday, Happy Hour 4 to 8 pm or Dip into something different at the Melting Pot, A Fondue Restaurant. Open daily for dinner. Reservations recommended. The Gaslamp Plaza Suites is approximately a half-mile away from the San Diego Convention Center, as well as Petco Park (home to the San Diego Padres), one mile from Seaport Village, 2 miles from the world famous San Diego Zoo, 8 miles from Sea World. Also close to other tourist attractions like Balboa Park, Coronado, San Diego Harbor, San Diego Cruise ship terminal, House of Blues, Civic Theatre, the newly remodeled Balboa Theater all within walking distance or a short bus or trolley ride away.
