    The hotel is old and tired but that’s ok it has a charm and history But to not provide shampoo in the bathrooms at the prices they charge is poor.As is the provision of tiny tiny dressing gowns which would not fit a child. they should not have bothered.Sad ,it could be a brilliant place

    I would say the room rate is for the location. Other than reception and dining room, the hotel is very tired and service not good. Shower had intermitant fault resulting in only one hassle free shower, it was suggested they might be able to find a shower somewhere in the fully booked hotel we could use! Hotel could not cater for all booked guests for food despite two areas that could have been used with social distancing in place. On one occasion my steak was returned twice on third attempt the steak was hot but the rest that had been siiting on the plate was cold, at this point with the rest of my party finished i had to leave it at that. They ceremoniously took the steak surcharge of the bill! In a nutshell full rates being charged with very reduced staff and service.Would not consider staying there again.

    For a hotel that is billed as pet friendly, we find it not to be. It was a drama at check in as I had booked a pet friendly room, but it was a surprise that I had brought them. Our room was changed to a v small one tucked out the back of the hotel. For the price of it (£130 £20 charge for two dogs) it was not as expected at all. Small and very dated - a small step to get into the bathroom when it’s plain to see my husband had a broken leg. The only toiletries in there being a tiny bar of soap. On the plus side the location is great, but pleased we’re only staying one night.
