Great location in the surrounding mountains of Asheville. Staff were all super friendly and accommodating. Very nice and pleasant room. Swimming pool was exceptional, with great views of the surrounding mountain tops. Very nice stay. Hope to return soon.

Good but not great

My husband and I stayed here for a quick over night stay to attend a wedding. It was a cheaper option for the season considering that hotels downtown were $500+. However, I believe almost $300 just to sleep somewhere in this particular hotels condition is completely ridiculous! The building seems fairly old and a little dated. Our room smelled like smoke and the tile shower had pretty bad mildew stains. But overall, the room was clean. The staff were very friendly and had decorated then entrance very nicely for fall. It is convenient to I-40/240 and is about a 10 minute drive to downtown.

Great location and amenities

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
The hotel location proved to be perfect for the various locations we planned to visit during our stay in Asheville. The highlights of the stay included the hot breakfast buffet and the customer service at the front desk. Very impressed with this hotel.

My overpriced room did not look like the charming photos.

Pros: Free Internet, friendly desk staff & maid, cute fireplace sitting area in lobby, pet friendly w/ dog walk area, free parking
Cons: Poor breakfast, small uncomfortable double beds, room quality not equal to price, free breakfast was low quality and skimpy, cafe ran out of coffee & sausage, must say again - overpriced!, only one elevator and it was slow & overworked, room did not look like photos, smelled funny in room
Charming fireplace in the lobby sitting area, and local photos in the halls. Pleasant desk staff made it hard to complain about sub-par conditions. Unfortunately that is where the charm ended. The room was clean, but the room furnishings were tired and uncomfortable. A/C unit and room smelled odd. Also, I don't know where half of the promo pictures on this site came from ... but they sure weren't from my room! My room did not look like the photos. We spent most of our lounge time in the lobby - because the room was so uncomfortable. (One lone desk chair for us all to share? No couch or plushy chair. No pretty armoire or handy coffee table as in photos! Just a basic blah room.) The hotel does not offer rooms with two beds larger than doubles. (Need to make available rooms with two queen or two king size beds for tall families.) Hotel cafe ran out of coffee and did not offer to make more. Free breakfast - was LOW QUALITY and put out TINY & COLD portions. (Eat elsewhere!) We had considered staying two nights, but left after only one night. Probably would not have stayed the one night ... but it was too much of a hassle to make waves. Unless traveling with your pet, this hotel is an overpriced dud.

Nice, but.......

Nice older hotel. Very friendly help and quick room service for any problems. Don't recommend this hotel if you are sensitive to animal dander, etc., as they are a pet friendly hotel. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, but if you are the least bit allergic, think twice! Our room smelled like a wet dog even though they came up and sprayed air freshner for us. The lighting is very bad for ladies to put on makeup and fix hair, etc. The sink in our bathroom was so high we (3 ladies), couldn't even wash our face without placing a towel on the edge of the counter because we would get wet since we couldn't reach the faucet! No light in the shower at all either, and no closet, just a cabinet to hang your clothes. Good location though to travel in all directions of Asheville, Black Mountain, etc. Close to Asheville Mall and the interstate.

It's ok

When we arrived there was a group of men blocking the entrance with a big truck trying to move the hotel sign. They were smoking, lage stomaches hanging out of the bottom of shirts, and standing around with raod cones blocking the entrance. We had to call the hotel to have these people move so we could get to the hotel. Hopefully they have all that straightened out. This is a pet friendly hotel so beware if you have asthma or other breathing conditions. People had dogs and cats everywhere when we visited. When we arrived our room had a funny smell, it wasn't bad, just weird. After being out all day we returned to find these weird stains on the bed. I looked up and saw that the ceiling was leaking and the popcorn part was falling off. I called the front desk and they sent a man up to help move us to the room across the hall. They were very nice and apologized for this problem. They then said we were getting an upgraded room...yep, because it had a pool view. So, basically the same. The bed was ok, the sheets were comfy, and the pillows were good. However the upgraded room had a soap holder that was broken in the shower. The place was clean and quite other than the ceiling in the first room. Do not order the room service. It is a rip off. We paid $ for 2 pieces of toast, juice, eggs, and hashbrowns that were less than McDonalds quality.

Great Hotel for resting and for the price FANTASTIC

This hotel was fantastic. The view from the hotel was great. The staff was wonderful. They were courteous and helpful from the moment we checked in to the moment we left. It is a small hotel. One elevator that is none to fast and a small "Bistro" but they work to this hotels advantage. Everything was clean and orderly. This was without a doubt the best Holiday Inn we have ever stayed in. Yes there were some minor cosmetic sheet rock work that needed to be done on the ceiling that need to be repaired. The air conditioner will need a little while to be able to catch up to cool the room. We did not think it was working very well when we arrived and were afraid that we would not be able to sleep. We turned it all the way down as cold as we could. When we woke up in the morning we had to play rock paper scissors to see who would have to get out from under the comforter to go turn the ac off. I only mention that so that anyone who might read my review not think I was not truly observant. The beds were comfortable, the rooms, hallways, elevators, and grounds were clean and well kept. The hotel is about a block from I-40. There is a gas station right by the hotel. If you leave the parking lot and take a right there are several places to eat and about four stop lights down there is a 24 hour Ingalls grocery store that is great. They have a Starbucks in the groccery store. The area around the Hotel is kind of quite. This is a place to rest not an area to party. Perfect. Highly recommened.
