We usually book directly with a hotel. I used Travelocity and the check in clerk made a point to say that "all of our money is with Travelocity, so we'd have to pay with a card for any additional services. She also went on a lengthy and rather threatening verbal disclaimer about charging $250 for a cleaning fee if the room was left with pet filth. We told her we didn't have a pet prior to that, and the room had filthy side chairs and carpeting, so clearly there isn't thorough cleaning done. Then,with no occasional or dining settee, we had to eat on the desk my husband was using for business. The breakfast we ordered via room service, which was encouraged at check in, was lacking essential condiment and we didn't have time to fuss with calling down for additional service. I felt we were given a cast off room due to booking through Travelocity, due to the vocal reference to using Travelocity at check in. We never received a receipt as the check out clerk said she couldn't print it out due to booking through Travelocity.

The Hotel strives to find the balance between the Historic integrity of the hotel, as well as the modern comforts our guest's enjoy. A Multi-million dollar expansion and restoration is currently regaining progress following COVID, you can look forward to a "refreshed" historical experience in the future! We regret that you were dissatisfied with your choice of room. Our Deluxe King is the least costly and smallest; we try to be clear about that at every opportunity. We have several unique suite styles; guests have a wide variety of preferences. That's why we always try to actually show all arriving guests their rooms prior to check in, with options, so they are satisfied with their choice. What the Front Desk overshared with you was a strict non-smoking policy, not the pet policy. We are sorry if you felt put off by it, we will engage the Front Desk staff on more welcoming ways to share Hotel policy with our guests.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. All we encountered were eager to tell of the history of the hotel. The charm of the renovated hotel was inspirational. I want to replicate the moldings on the interior doors into my own home. The atmosphere was quiet and I slept very well!! We enjoyed dining in the center of the hotel on the second floor. It has a veranda type setting where we were able to enjoy the view of the first floor and all of the wood work and ornate furnishings. The food was also very good. I had a lite meal of salad. My husband enjoyed the ribeye and WE specially enjoyed his mashed sweet potatoe. I look forward to returning and will make this my only place to Baker City

Completely amazing preserved property. The staff, room cleanliness, food and drinks could not have been better. The pre-prohibition drinks were a bonus and fit right into the period of the building and interior motif.
