Nice Hotel for a Quick Stop

We stayed one night on our way to REDDING from OKLAHOMA CITY. For the price is was much nicer than I expected!! The room was clean upon first inspection, but was not spotless. (Few hairs in the bathroom, hard wood floor turned my toddler’s feet black.) We only stayed one night since we were only passing through. I paid $40, so I guess it’s just a case of “you get what you pay for”. We ate breakfast downstairs, it was clean & tidy. Staff was very nice and helpful. They did not have a high chair in the breakfast room. No big deal for us. Breakfast options were pancakes, waffles, cereal, toast/jelly and oatmeal.

Shabby and Unclean

Pros: Convenient to I5 travel
Cons: Most everything needs help
I needed a place to stay between LA and San Francisco. I don't need fancy (I frequent Motel 6), I only ask for clean and safe. Especially since I was a woman travelling alone this trip . I guess you get what you pay for but I hoped that $59 would get me just a little better. Booked through Travelocity in the early afternoon. Arrived around 6pm and checked in with a desultory clerk who at least gave me a choice between the 2nd floor courtyard view or "one in the back". The 100 degree heat made the room stifling and the window air conditioning never was able to get the room into a level of comfort throughout the night. One plus, the courtyard was grass so I imagine the temp would have been even higher without it. The door did not secure properly and daylight shone all around the frame. Bugs crawled in under the ill-fitting door. The plastic shower was cracked and not clean. Bath towel the size of a hand towel and threadbare. Breakfast was sparse: waffle maker, muffins, no fruit, no cold water. When a guest asked for water, the morning clerk said there was only hot water and you had to purchase cold bottled water. What the heck??? I glanced at the pool area and saw yellow Caution tape but there were 2 people in the water. Never went to inspect that business... At least I made it out alive.

Good value

Pros: Convenience from highway. Relatively cheap gas stations nearby. Coffee available.
Cons: Room needs a clock. Breakfast needs more choices.
Location: See above
Overnight stay on way to Santa Rosa. Huge wreck on the Grapevine delayed my arrival and put me in a very bad mood.

Gritty, dingy looking place and tenants.

Pros: cheap. Breakfast adequate.
Cons: General appearance could be improved ... everything seemed dingy and gritty.
Location: relatively close to Carrizo Plain National Monument.
I booked this as an overnight stay after visiting Carrizo Plain National Monument. Parking Lot and Building appeared gritty and dingy. Landscaping was pretty bad. There were other 'guests' ... evidently long-term tenants ... milling around outside that looked of questionable character and made me concerned about the safety of my vehicle overnight, although I had not problems. Room was dingy and dark also, but adequate. The entire Buttonwillow rest stop and other businesses seemed dirty and gritty also. Lost Hills might be a better choice.

Great stopover motel

I've stayed at this motel many times during my trips to SoCal. Staff is so friendly and always offer anything to make my stay more enjoyable! I usually just sleepover, but the rooms are always clean and comfortable! And gotta say I do love walking across parking lot to Starbucks! Always stay here, probably 6 times a year, and always recommend this motel to people.
