Nice

Location: Tianamen Square, ten minutes from the Temple of Heaven, ten minutes walking from a food street
This hotel had a great location close to Tianamen Square. The downstairs was amazing and beautiful. The pool and gym are nice. Cons: the air conditioner didn't work. It was hard to flag down a taxi at the hotel.

Goods and bads

Pros: Quiet
The staffs attempts to be friendly did not come off as genuine. The food is pricey and the hot food/coffee is too cold and the cold food isn't cold enough. The Hotel should warn customers not to use the bicycle rick-shaws because those guys can't be trusted and some are even criminal and will try to take you down a back-street and rob you. No kidding. The hotel location is convenient and close to Tianamen Sq and the Forbidden City.

Centrally located hotel....great staff, very helpful. The internet was just being upgraded and was rather questionable.

Nice, cheap hotel but a few issues

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: Poor breakfast, weird service
For the most part, I really liked staying at this hotel. The rooms are decent, they provide 2 bottles of water per day (as well as 1.5 liter bottles in the room for 15 rmb), and the restaurants are USUALLY pretty good. Issues I had: beds were hard, but that is expected in China Laundry service is very overpriced. half of my clothes, less than a full load in a standard washer, cost around 350 rmb just to wash. No special services requested. For an international hotel, not enough of the staff can speak English. I don't expect them to be fluent, but knowing a few basic word would be nice. Maybe 1/3rd of the staff understood anything I said. There was a business group there having a conference, and the hotel allowed them to completely reserve 2 of the restaurants for multiple days at lunch time. One was the restaurant we usually stopped by for a quick lunch, and was suppose to be available to us 24/7. Also, 2 of the other restaurants were not even open at that time...do that left Cantonese (good, but don't want it multiple days in a row) and the top floor restaurant, which I do not care for. There are multiple, very large rooms specifically for meetings and conferences in the hotel...I do not know why they did not use those.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, within walking distance to major attractions
Cons: No free Internet
This hotel provided excellent value for our money. We were not disappointed in any way about our selection. The best thing was that we were within walking distance of a number of places we wanted to visit, like Forbidden City, and The Temple of Heaven. There was one large shopping area (numerous shops with a wonderful bakery to have coffee and a Danish) within a block, and two other large shopping malls within walking distance. It was easy to arrange tours at the hotel. The beds were hard (though that is common in China), but very comfortable. We would definitely go back there.

This hotel was a great place to stay.

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
The staff was very helpful whenever we had questions about traveling around Beijing. They helped us make reservations for shows, and the room service was very prompt. The staff at the fitness center were very professional and welcoming. Also, this hotel is within walking of distance many of the tourist attractions and very close to the subway station if we were going some place not within a 20 minute walk.

Hotel made me itch

Pros: none
Cons: No free Internet, dirty rooms
This hotel is only a five star if one looks at the lobby. The rooms could possibly pass for a 3 star if a person is an optimist, otherwise a 2 star. The first room was filthy. Trash on floor. Very dirty carpet. Capet outside of bathroom was soaking wet. Lots of mildew in bathroom. The night manager Winston was very accommadating with moving us to another room but that one was only slightly better. It was supposed to be a suite. Very dirty carpet in second room. Towles reeked of smoke every day after being replaced. Beds in both rooms were extremely firm. Much more firm than other hotel beds that I've slept on in China. The hotel placed down toppers on bed but that only made the hardness more lumpy. For the price and quality of the rooms I was amazed that the hotel had the nerve to charge for internet.

Very nice and accessible

The lobby is very nice, expansive marble, but at the same time felt inviting and full of activity, but not crowded. Easy work to the wonderful subway system in Beijing. We spent three days there and comfortably made it to many great location.
