We stayed over Thanksgiving. There was a considerable amount of snowfall. My in-laws stayed at a different property and was snowed in. Their car couldn’t get out. This property did an excellent job of plowing and keeping in and out access available.

ok for semi affordable place to sleep on ski trip.

Pros: had vacancy, booked through travelocity. Close to snow summit and the village for food
Cons: Cleanliness, facilitates/amenities. clarification of room type.
Staff was pleasant but room and 'lobby' were a disappointment. Carpet and sheets were dirty, brown spots on sheets, blanket smelled. Bathroom door made a loud screeching noise, but light didn't work so we kept it open anyway. TV had 1992 era resolution. Walls are paper thin to hear neighbors tv, snoring, conversation and um etc. The king size bed's bottom sheet didnt even cover the entire bed...seriously, our calves were essentially on the mattress. Travelocity showed a Jacuzzi and fireplace in photos of my reservation but my room had neither (partially my mistake because I didn't fully read the room title of 'standard king'. Decent price for crowded big bear, we only needed a place to sleep after skiing all day. No breakfast included, crowded parking lot. Conveniently, all revises on travelocity were hidden, so we'll see if this shows up.

Bad Customer Service

Pros: The location was close to everything. The microwave, fridge, coffee machine, and toaster were handy. Also liked lake view.
Cons: Management, should honor room type reservations regardless of 3rd party booking. Customer service and Facilities need lots of improvement.
Location: Close to Big Bear Village, Snow Summit, and Bear Mountain.
I Booked room with a spa and lakeview, my room did not have a spa. The manager said there was nothing she could do about it, especially because I booked through a 3rd party (Travelocity). Travelocity customer service tried to work with the Hotel Manager, but were unsuccessful. So we were given the choice to stay or relocate to another hot el that was 15 minutes away to a room that had no room spa. We decided to stay where we were because it was close to the activities we wanted to do. The place was run down the stair rail was all broken and rotting, our room had a water leak in the ceiling, the drapes in the living room were way too small for the sliding glass door and would not block out the light at night, the shower curtain kept falling off, and the phone rattled and didn’t work right. During our 4 nite stay I had to take out the trash, request towels, and toilet paper daily. Whenever I called the front office no one would answer. At the office I spoke to the manager to request that the room get cleaned, it had been 3 days. She told me that they usually don’t clean rooms just provide towels and toilet paper and straighten up the bed. This is not a good place to stay, I will not return, and would not recommend it to anyone!!!

Too much $$$ for what you get - staff is UNSAT!

Pros: Room bigger than i thought (actually 2 rooms).
Cons: Most everything - including Travelocity's poor description of this place - disappointing!
Location: Great location - poor parking.
DON'T GIVE your $$$$ to this place. First - Travelocity advertises this hotel as Fireside Lodge. No signage indicating Fireside Lodge, when you drive in, look for Rodeway Inn. Second, not enough parking - nighttime manager told me to park in the handicap parking. Room was bigger than expected, however the futon was broke and kids could not sleep comfortably. Walls are paper thin and you can hear people in the next room sneeze. People downstairs partied all night with loud music, however II, no night manager to address, they leave ant 10pm and no one returns until 8am. Getting to 8am . . . free breakfast . . . yeah right, office door is closed until 8am, how do you get breakfast before that? You don't. Breakfast consists of pre-packaged mini-muffins and pastries, hot water for oatmeal packets and coffee . . . what a joke, I can't believe the staff can sit there with a straight face while people come in with their families for breakfast - Travelocity - you need to fix the advertising for this hotel. Staff seems mad they have to be there . . . no eye contact, poor attitude. I highly recommend you find another place to stay.

Fireside Lodge was a lovely and cozy - just like the name.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, good location
I stayed at Fireside Lodge in Aug. 2012 with my family. First of all, this town is quite charming as was this facility. Our room was a two bedroom/2 bath suite. The beds were wonderful - plus pretty quilts and down spreads and the sheets smelled good! There were tvs in each room plus the living area which was nice. The fireplace added to the hominess. The suite was immaculate and the staff was very welcoming. We were close to the lake and enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables at the end of the day for a cocktail and sunset.

Upscale but homey

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, romantic classy mountain lodge feel
What a wonderful place to stay when visiting Big Bear Lake for skiing/snowboarding, boating, fishing, strolling in the Village or hiking in the fall leaves or spring wild flowers. This Lodge has a homey but classy feel to it with bright mountain type wooden furniture, comfy beds and kitchenettes or full kitchens. There are suites with romantic 2 person spas and a heated swimming pool open from spring until late fall. There's a conference room with full kitchen that can hold 30 people. I was thinking that it would be a perfect place for a family reunion like Thanksgiving dinner in the mountains without everyone being crammed into one cabin. Sitting out on the deck of some of the suites with a peaceful view of the lake makes this lodge an ideal location. It's close to the Big Bear Lake Marina and within walking distance of the Village for shopping. As VIP Liaison for the Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival, we had several of our Hollywood VIP's staying at this special place. They were very complimentary, and they have high standards. They all commented on the resort town friendliness of the staff and enjoyment of the complimentary breakfast and welcome snack basket including a bottle of nice wine. People come to the mountains to get away from the city and the impersonal chain type hotels. This is an upscale place to stay that will make you smile later when back at the frantic pace of your usual life.
