Nice Condo/Poor Service by Vacasa
In the 15+ years that we have rented through VRBO, we have never felt the need to rate a property less than 5 stars until now. Although the condo itself was very nice, the management/maintenance of it by Vacasa was sorely lacking. The foot of snow that had fallen a week prior to our arrival had not been cleared from the sidewalk, decks or driveway. We made 3 calls to Vacasa customer service (which sounds like it is outsourced overseas) with no results from their “local team”. Had we not answered a text request to rate the cleanliness of the property with the lowest score, we’re not certain the problem would ever have been resolved.
It was more that 20 hours after our arrival, along with the mention of our safety concerns in the event of an emergency, that the snow was finally cleared. We requested at least a partial refund and actually have received one night’s rent with tax. However, Vacasa’s fees average more per day than the rent and were not refunded at all.
For the condo, the gas fireplace is not usable unless you are willing to try to light the pilot light yourself by hand with matches (the supply of which must have run out). It would be nice to have higher quality towels for the guests, not just the owners. The location was great, the interior was very clean and it was nicely furnished—we feel bad for the owner that Vacasa dropped the ball and probably keeps their share of the money!
