Stunning 12 Acre Mountain Sanctuary!

Located in the heart of The Aska Adventure Area, this cabin is an ideal basecamp for thrill-seekers and explorers, with its close proximity abundant outdoor activities like hiking, biking, tubing, fishing, tubing, kayaking, gem mining, and fishing.

Situated on 12 private acres and adjoined by 50 acres of US National Forest, Aska Stargazer has abundant space to stretch out, relax, and immerse in the rejuvenating effects of a natural retreat.

Enjoy gorgeous mountain views from almost every room, a two-story deck, a screened in porch with a gas fire pit, and a rocking chair front porch overlooking the Chattahoochee National Forest adjacent to the property.

After a long day on the river, unwind in wind in the living room with an expensive wall of windows overlooking the view of the mountains, a wood-burning fireplace, 55 inch Roku smart TV, and a telescope for sky watching on clear nights.

Once the sun goes down, explore the stunning starry night sky as it can only be seen from Aska Stargazer with our house telescope or from the upper deck lounge chairs.

Your inner chef will be delighted to spend time in the fully equipped kitchen with bar seating for two. After whipping up a feast gather around the dining table that comfortably seats at six or eat under the stars on the patio table.

Escape for the night to one of three bedrooms. The main level king bedroom includes a reading nook and ensuite bathroom with jetted soaker tub, a separate shower, and French doors that open to the upper deck. One guest room includes a one-of-a-kind king-sized laurel canopy bed with string lights and the other has two sets of bunkbeds the kids will love.

The lower level bonus room is where the fun begins! It includes a 65” Roku Smart TV, ample seating, a wet bar with a mini fridge and a Keurig, a shuffleboard table and games. There is also a music corner to expand your entertainment options if you are musically inclined: a Donner electric weighted-key piano and a guitelele (small sized guitar).

There are two levels of decks overlooking the long range Mountain View. The upper deck has a propane grill in an outdoor dining area; the lower deck has ample seating, hammock swing chairs, café string lights, corn hole, and a new six person Nordic hot tub with an ozone system.

Guest review:
“Nearly the entire time outside all you can see and hear are sights and sounds of nature, the gentle breezes… whispering through the trees, the birds so happily gathering their food and flittering to and fro, the blue mountains seen from miles away, the deer frolicking out back, the swallow-tails swooping… the many stars and constellations unspoiled light pollution at night.” -Michael D.

Activities:

-hiking and mountain biking: 6 miles to the Aska Trail System for hiking and mountain biking; 4 to 6 miles from the closest Benton Mackaye Trail access points; 16 miles to the Appalachian Trailhead in Springer Mountain; very close to numerous other hiking hotspots and landmarks such as Fall Branch Falls and the Toccoa Swinging Bridge. We also enjoy just walking the property around the cabin and the quiet, scenic neighborhood.

-5 minutes from fishing on the Toccoa River or a premier guided trout fly fishing experience on private land; the best river tubing In the area at the Toccoa Valley Campground; kayaking and canoeing excursions, gem mining, 2 highly rated restaurants, and a convenience store.
-13 miles to Lake Blue Ridge for swimming, kayaking, or boating on Lake Blue Ridge

-13 miles to Blue Ridge Adventure Park

-13 miles to Downtown Blue Ridge for shopping, dining, and the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway

-Within 20-30 minutes you can visit several area Vineyards and Wineries, and Mercier Orchards.

-45 minutes from world class Whitewater Rafting on the Ocoee River!

-Once the sun goes down, explore the stunning starry night sky as it can only be seen from Aska Stargazer laying back in the deck lounge chairs or house telescope!

Guest access
Guests of Aska Stargazer have the entire cabin to themselves for the duration of their stay.

Things to consider:
-Aska Stargazer is equipped with security cameras that face away from the cabin at the front door and parking area.
-Access to this property is via an inclined gravel drive. You might be nervous driving on this surface the first time or two, but you get used to it quickly. AWD is recommended and will make it easier, but not required, and there are alternative routes.
-We recommend arriving during daylight the first time, if possible, as there are no street lights on the gravel drive. However, there is landscape lighting that automatically comes on at dusk around the home itself.
-Our cabin is in the woods in the mountains, home to wildlife of many kinds, and critters of the four or more legs varieties. We have regular pest control, and, within reason, we are glad to send them out between regular visits if you see anything you are bothered by.

Cabin Snob reporting for duty
I'm a self proclaimed "cabin snob" and pride myself in booking fabulous cabins for 4 adults, twice a year. This was the CLEANEST cabin we've ever stayed in. I did not have to bust out my Clorox wipes or the broom, when we first got there. This was a first for me. This was the most WELL STOCKED cabin we've ever stayed in. Usually there is 1/2 of a roll of paper towels and 1 roll of TP for each bathroom. NOT HERE!! They provide more than enough of each. There are shampoo and conditioner dispensers in each shower. The pantry has spices, the freezer had coffee. There was a wide variety of games and even some Tide Pods if you need. The list of "little extras" this cabin provided is endless. The property grounds were AMAZING!! You hear nothing but birds and crickets. We saw a deer, 2 armadillos and pretty sure a bear came for burgers. We did not SEE it, but we heard it come up the mountain and to the side of the deck. It froze when it heard us. The driveway IS tricky but manageable. You're going up a mountain...its to be expected. Highly recommend visiting Helen and Dahlonega, GA. during your stay. The biggest "con" is that there is NOTHING nearby. Not even a gas station. Its about 20 minutes each way to the store (if GPS is good to you). Just make sure you have all that you need upon arrival and get there BEFORE dark!! Make a list of things you need so that when you do venture out, you can stop at the store without making an extra trip. Enjoy your stay!

Great Location and Cozy Place
Day of, host gave instructions on check in/out process, useful tips, and travel location. Since it's up in the mountains, to get to the house you must go uphill on a gravel road. The house had all the necessary items and beds were comfortable. Great view with screen in firepit area and hot tub. Really enjoyed the stay.

Peaceful mountaintops
This was the perfect getaway for a quick trip with lifelong girlfriends. The steep drive can be a little intimidating at first, but definitely worth it when you get to the top!

Great family trip
The cabin was beautiful with amazing views. It had everything we needed and was clean and ready for us. We had a wonderful vacation. We were glad that we had an all wheel drive. Don’t use Waze, follow the directions from the host (those were excellent and very clear). The host recommended arriving the first time before dark, we were really glad that we listened. Would happily stay there again!

Great place!
It was our 12th annual girl’s trip. The mountain view was amazing! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and plus some. The gas fire pit on the porch was cozy on a cold day. Only 2 pieces of wood were provided for the inside fireplace which wasn't enough for 1 good fire. I wish the rocking chairs were on the back porch and not the front. We had a nice stay and I would recommend it.

Overall the cabin was wonderful. We had some issues with appliances, but things were managed well. We enjoyed lounging around, playing games, enjoyed stargazing from the hot tub and our stay was relaxing. Which was our goal.
