Boulder City Hotel & Travel Guide
Boulder City, Nevada is a small city located about 26 miles southeast of Las Vegas. The city was founded in 1931, shortly after the U.S. government announced that it would build a new hydroelectric dam on the Colorado River. A small town was built in the area to accommodate the thousands of workers who arrived, hoping for a chance to find employment during the Great Depression. For some time, the project was called Boulder Canyon Dam. Today, it's known as the Hoover Dam, and the small town grew into Boulder City.
