After driving 5 hours to the location, we arrived and no one would give us access to our already paid for rental. We called the owner as instructed by VRBO, and to no avail. After over an hour of waiting for access outside the home on Christmas Day, we were notified that the home had been double booked and we were left without a place to stay. We drove 5 hours with our toddler and teen, and had to find a place to stay last minute. Unfortunately, since we rented a house, our Christmas groceries had to be donated, since we couldn’t take them all to the hotel with us. And the owner only offered a simple, “I’m sorry, it’s VRBOs fault for double booking the home,” which I felt was very unacceptable. After 48 hours, we were notified that our stay would be reimbursed as a credit to VRBO within 5 business days. Unfortunately, I will not use or recommend this stay, and may not ever use the booking service. We did, however have a great time with family, despite all the obstacles.
