Nice Place, Except for. . .

I was there simply as a stopover on a trip from Santa Fe, NM to San Francisco, CA. I arrived in the evening and departed early the following morning. The staff were courteous and very helpful. The room was quiet, clean, and well-appointed. Spotless bathroom. However, I have one major complaint. The bed linens were as rough as sandpaper, very low quality and uncomfortable. And the pillows were filled with that chopped foam that offers a neck ache instead of a good night's sleep. And since my main reason in being there was simply to get a good night's sleep, the bedding and pillows issue was a big negative. Too bad. Otherwise, this was comparable to the Best Western Colorado River Inn, which is where I've stayed on other trips through Needles, and which is twice as expensive side as the Rio Del Sol Inn. If the Rio Del Sol Inn owners invested in better quality bedding and pillows, they might discover that it was a sound investment.

The floors were dirty with spilled splotches throughout the room. Walls had dirt from hands especially by the soap dispenser. There was just pieces of food or I don’t know what on the walls as well. It reminded me of a gas station bathroom. Sheets were all pilly with only a thin blanket to keep warm. No hot water to shower. Spoke to the man at the front desk who said the room was cleaned and argued that they have to keep the water that way. I guess in the middle of nowhere you can name your price and take advantage of people. Way to expensive for what you get. I mean hot water is pretty basic. And mop the floor. We were also put in a room that connected to another occupied room despite the property appearing rather empty. The walls are thin and it was noisy.

Historic motel on Route 66 is GREAT!

Neat older motel on the original Route 66 through NV/CA. Enjoyed our extended conversation with the motel registration clerk and learned a little bit of local history too! Comfy beds with good TV reception and refrig. Parking right at our door and clerk made sure we had no NYE party goers to listen to right next door. Thanks, again.

Ground floor, gave us an extra blanket when we asked, pointed out a nearby restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Told us how to get to a nearby pharmacy.
