I stayed here as a last minute weekend trip. Checking in was slow. Luckily we had a very large cocktail from the airport to hold us over while standing in line. Check in took over 30 min and there was only one family a head of us. Once Checked in the “sales” team bombardes you with their sales pitch for a timeshare and tour. Because we were not interested they chose not to take us on the tour or give us any information on the hotel. No problem I can walk around myself. The room was gorgeous. I loved the solarium/sunroom/ Florida room. Any time I was in the room, I would open the windows to feel the breeze and listen to the ocean. My only complaints with the room was our shower drain was clogged and it would flood the bathroom every time we showered. And whatever they clean the tile floors with made my feet feel disgusting. Bed is hard but it wasn’t unbearable. We tried to use room service once but no one answered the multiple times we called. We never had a wait at any of the restaurants. Food presentation was pretty but it lacked flavor. Cocktails are definitely watered down. Service was amazing. Staff was cleaning the grounds day and night. Covid-I waited in line for about 30 min before a guest came out and complained it was taking 20 min pp to get scheduled, they only had appts for Monday (this was 9a Sat.). I had to be tested on Sat. and the Dr leaves at 11:30. I had to leave the resort and pay $50pp to have results before I left on Monday

Upon arrival at GR Caribe by Solaris we were greeting by sanitizer and a walk through of a shower type apparatus that sprays what I am thinking is disinfecting air, it was interesting and I probably should have questioned it more..but I had just spent many hours on planes and I was ready to relax. We reserved two rooms, one for myself and hubby and one for the kiddos(they are adults). We were "upgraded" to the Royal Solaris, the sister hotel, with an ocean view. We reserved a King for myself and hubby, the room we received had two double beds that they offered to move together that made a giant bed, which was fine. The room was dated but very clean. The mini fridge is filled with soda, water and Coronitas daily. As far as amenities, the pool is lovely, but the swim up bar does not open until 11am. The fine dining restaurants are good, but the best restaurant is by the pool, ask for Reinhart..he is amazing! We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Solaris and I am sure the GR Caribe is equally as lovely. Now if you are looking for the party scene, this is not the spot, head towards the Embarcadero. The Solaris is made for relaxing and enjoying family time. The question I am sure everyone has is about the Covid testing. Here is the deal, we arrived Sunday night, the test scheduling is open 9-5. We scheduled the test Monday to be taken on Thursday morning (we were scheduled to depart on Saturday). The results came in on Friday, the day after, at 11am. Easy..peazy.

The staff was always cleaning. You could see the hotel was always improving the property from painting a wall to cleaning the sand off of the walkways.
