I wanted to give a higher rating but was very upset that there wasn't any hot water when we showered.

I checked in around 7:00 on Friday the 8th. The staff member was on the phone smoking in front of the hotel. She did not get off the phone to check me in. She was complaining to her manager about the people who had left of quit earlier that day. The lobby smelled like smoke and looked awful due to the remodel... the elevator had buttons taped off due to them not being safe to push. the room had a smell that i could not identify but smelled a lot like bug spray. I literally checked out 10 minutes after checking in.

The desk clerk refused to acknowledge that I'd pre-paid for the room even with a copy of the receipt in my hand. She insisted that I pay again if I wanted the room. Thankfully another employee came over, looked at my receipt, and said, "Give them the room." Not a good idea to call a paying client a liar. If she said it once, she said it half a dozen times - You didn't pay. Why couldn't I have been given the benefit of the doubt and blame the problem on a computer glitch?

Black soap scum im bath tub, room had not been cleaned, blood on bathroom wall, bathtub did not drain. Had no wash rags or towels, went to front desk to get them, was given rags that had been used already and not washed. The pool and breakfast were not available, was provided by another hotel. Dirty plungers and rags sitting in hallway. Another customer had their kids tablet and medicine stolen from room, police had to get involved. They had 3 elevators, only 1 worked but it would take you to random floors and get stuck.

The property was in sad repair, cracked plaster, holes in the walls and an abundance of spiders. There was no hot water, the TV was out (announced as cable issue isolated to building), the room phone did not work (when reported by my cell phone no cure offered except to move rooms late in the evening (told no repair personnel at night). Worst hotel I have stayed in in years. I want my money back but they said it was pre-paid. I will think twice about using Travelocity prepays again after this!

I honestly wish I could say I enjoyed my experience at the Charleston Wyndham but I definitely did not the first room I was given was still dirty trash in the garbage cans and beds look like they had been slept in the second room I was given was fairly clean with wallpaper paint and stucco completely peeling off of walls and hanging ( I have pictures to support claims ) The parking was super sketchy being that the back side of parking lot is literally the skid Row area of Charleston I find it hard to trust Travelocity Now I thought I was booking and paying for a decent hotel and honestly could have stayed in a cheaper motel with same accommodations nothing in the reviews warned of the area the hotel is in or conditions the room I stayed a total of five days and literally seen housekeeping one time And that was after day three when I had to find them to get clean towels i’m really sorry and I do not like writing reviews in this manner but had this review been available for me I never would have chosen this particular hotel

The staff at this property makes your stay worthwhile. I have read some of the other reviews yes this is an older property and it has it's issues but the hospitality that I received from Mary Porter her team far out weighed any minor issues that may have had with the facility. I will say my room clean and smoke free the beds were super comfortable and nice pillows and all the common areas were clean with well appointed furnishings. I would recommend this property to anyone that is looking for a nice reasonably priced hotel. I can't say enough about the great team of people from housekeeping, front desk and management. I look forward to seeing you guys again real soon. Great job!!
