How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Dongguan

If you like the idea of spending more time at the airport cafes and less time at the security checkpoint on your way to Dongguan, just follow these helpful tips:

  • Have your passport and boarding pass in an easily accessible place. They'll be the first things you'll be asked for by security staff.
  • Wallets, USB sticks and mobile phones must be put in a tub for X-raying. If you pass through the body scanner with any one of these items, you'll be instructed to turn back and remove them.
  • Laptops, digital cameras and other electronic devices must be placed in a tub to be X-rayed.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to place all gels, liquids and creams in a separate bin for scanning. Make sure they're all stored in containers smaller than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Airport security staff will likely tell you to remove your shoes prior to entering the body scanner. Wear a pair that slip off easily. There's nothing worse than having to do your laces up again and again.
  • Pocketknives and corkscrews are not permitted on board the plane. Pack them in your checked luggage to avoid them being confiscated at the security checkpoint.
