The fare is initially low but then $36 for checked bag and $26 for priority boarding to guarantee place for carry on. But the flight left and arrived on time and my bag arrived quickly.

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Sorrento

These handy tips about airport security will save you lots of time and energy on your journey to Sorrento:

  • Keep your boarding pass and passport in an easily accessible place. They'll be the first things you'll be asked to produce by airport security.
  • You'll need to put your tunes on pause for a little while. Earphones and headphones must be taken off and put in a bin to be X-rayed. The same applies to items such as coins and keys.
  • Laptops and other electronic devices must be placed in a tray to be X-rayed.
  • When it comes to flying with gels or liquids, every passenger is permitted a quart-sized clear resealable bag to store containers no greater than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
  • Airport security staff will likely ask you to take off your shoes in preparation for entering the body scanner. Choose a pair that you can slip off easily. There's nothing more irritating than having to do your laces up again and again.
  • Pack any pocketknives or other sharp items inside your checked luggage. Security won't allow these in carry-on baggage.

Flights To Sorrento

Italy's most iconic resort town, Sorrento is a bustling beauty built on the side of a dramatic cliff, overlooking the clear, cerulean waters of the Mediterranean and the imposing Mount Vesuvius. Sorrento flights feature captivating views of the volcano, the sea, and fields of the region's famous citrus trees. Since there is no way to fly to Sorrento directly, you'll have to arrive at the nearby Naples International Airport (NAP)—about an hour away from the village itself.

Transportation from NAP

Though there is no way to fly into the seaside gem itself, many Sorrento hotels will provide shuttle service to and from NAP. If your hotel doesn't, there are always taxis available, and it's easy to rent a car. Additionally, there are several buses that you can catch periodically outside the arrival gates, and at least six trips per day are made by buses between the Naples airport and Sorrento. Alternatively, though it can be a bit difficult with lots of luggage, public transportation is actually a fantastic option because it involves a fun and scenic ferry ride across the Bay of Naples. Simply take a bus toward Acton-beverello or a short cab ride to Napoli Beverello, where you can then catch the Napoli Beverello–Sorrento ferry. It will cross the bay in about 45 minutes, and you can enjoy prime views of gorgeous cliffside homes on one side and Mount Vesuvius on the other.

Immerse Yourself in Sublime Sorrento

Sorrento may be a luxurious resort destination, but that doesn't mean that cheap airfare can't be found. Search Travelocity for the best deals on tickets and flights to Sorrento and Sorrento vacation bundles. Save your money to spend in the town's celebrated shops—known for their unique wares—and to stock up on the region's top product: limoncello. Benefit from our price guarantee; we will match any lower price and refund you the difference.
