Book Cheap Hotels in Chemult

Dawson House Lodge is a quaint little road side stop. I have stayed before and if I'm back down that way, I will stay again.

It needed some TLC. While sitting on the front porch of our building we had a back view of the hotel. There was boarded up windows, untrimmed shrubs, and piles of unused "stuff." When we spoke with staff about a mouse we saw in the chalet she asked if we left the front door open too long - and I showed her an opening in the door where he could have come in. The chalet furniture was dusty and the manager blamed it on her housekeeping staff - whom I assume she isn't managing. The management was very nice.

Lodging was advertised as a resort,but it was not. The accommodations was more cabin like. The temperature was over 95 degrees and the cabin had no air conditioning. In addition and more enjoying, there was no Wi-Fi, no Internet, and no cell phone service. We felt totally isolated and could not make contact with anyone from the cabin. In addition, the restaurant burned down before we arrived and no effort was made to inform us of this situation. This is a very rural area and the closest restaurant with Wi-Fi was 7-10 miles away. As you can imagine, this was a very unfortunate way to start a vacation. Needless to say, the cost per night was not inexpensive.
