"The experience was poor from the moment I walked in. The lady working at the front desk was less than friendly. She seemed to find it amusing to stand there and watch me try to figure out how to swipe my credit card since the chip-reader on the credit card machine wasn't working. Instead of offering to take my card and swipe it for me after my multiple failed attempts, she just stood there waiting with a smirk on her face. She acted as if she didn't want to touch my card (Covid risk, I'm assuming?), even though she had just had to touch my driver's license to verify my identity. She gave me no instructions on check-out time or parking; I had to ask for this information. The website I booked my room through failed to mention that there is parking garage; all it said was "self-parking". There were no details that parking had to be paid for separately and that the parking garage was shared with the UAB hospital. So, needless to say, parking was a nightmare, especially at hospital shift change. Upon entering my room, I was hit with the smell of smoking even though my room was supposed to be non-smoking. In fact, it smelled like someone had recently smoked in there. My brother arrived shortly after to eat dinner with me, and he also commented on the smell of cigarettes/smoking. He suggested I ask for another room; however, after my poor experience at the front desk upon check-in, I was not willing to do this. I bore the disgusting smell throughout my two night stay, w"
